Turkey Classic Cancelled At Springfield RacewaySPRINGFIELD, Mo. (November 28) - Due to the storm front stalling out and not getting to the Springfield area until Saturday morning the forecast is calling for rain all day we are forced to cancel the Turkey Classic. It's always hard for the Raceway Mgt to make a call like this as last years event had teams from 11 different states, so we have to try and keep this im mind when deciding what to do with the events. "I would hate to just move the race back to Sunday and keep the out of town teams here another day, not knowing if we will be able to get on the track in the morning to prepare it to race on" said co-owner Jerry Hoffman. Sunday's forecast is calling for temps in the 30's with a wind chills in the 20's which is not the the environment for racing. "Nobody is more upset with these circumstances than we are" said co-owner Doug Bland. "This event has become one of our premier events and to loose it along with all the promotion and work we put into it is disheartening for us" said Bland. Raceway officials will evaluate the landscape and see when the best time to make up the event at the beginning of 2012.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience and hope that everyone understands the situation and will come race with us on the make up date.
