2012 PPMS Schedule Announced; 27 Dates Announced with Variety Sure To Please Everyone

PITTSBURGH, PA -- As the final month of 2011 begins we are reminded that the 2012 racing season is rapidly approaching and with that in mind Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is proud to release their 2012 racing schedule.

"We are excited to announce that the first draft of our schedule includes 27 nights of exciting racing action," commented Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "We will showcase each of our weekly divisions with several special events throughout the year. In addition, we are looking forward to the return of the Winged Super Sprints, the UFo Late Model Series, the FASTRAK Northeast Regional Touring Series and the Modified Tour. We are also speaking with several other sanctioning bodies and hope to announce a few additions to the schedule in the near future."

The Winged Super Sprints will make four visits to "Dirt's Monster Half Mile." The Flight of the Phoenix event on Sunday, July 1st will provide the "Winged Warriors" with their first opportunity to compete at the Imperial, PA oval in 2012. The division will also return on Saturday, August 18th as part of the Red Miley Rumble and of course they will also be a part of the 24th Annual Tri-Star Pittsburgher (September 15th) and the Monster Mania season final.

The UFo Late Model Series is also slated to compete in four events. The Late Model portion of the PENNational, Shockwave, Red Miley Rumble and the 24th Annual Tri-Star Pittsburgher will once again be part of the UFo Race Championship Series. Speedway management are also negotiating with the ULMS Late Model Series as they co-sanctioned these events this past season and it is hoped that the Northern Tier Series will also do so in 2012.

The Pro-Late Model Division will be the headliners on five occasions with the 23rd Annual Jook George Memorial Classic on September 1st once again being their "Crown Jewel." The unsanctioned event honors the memory of the late car owner whose tireless promotion of motorsports is fondly remembered by many PPMS competitors and fans. The FASTRAK Northeast regional Touring Series event is slated for July 7th and in house specials for the division are scheduled for April 14th, June 16th and July 28th.

The Late Model Sportsman Division will now compete for a weekly top prize of $400.00 and the 2012 schedule also includes the Late Model Sportsman Frenzoid on April 21st, the division's first ever "Topless" event on June 23rd and a final special on August 4th.

The Hobby Stock and Young Guns competitors will once again have championship events on the schedule in 2012. The Hobby Stock special is slated for June 2nd and the Young Guns Championship will be held on July 28th. The Young Guns Division is open to racers aged 13 and up and is one of the most affordable ways to start your racing career. Unlike many four-cylinder divisions, PPMS' Young Guns are limited to specific types of cars with similar size stock motors. Just strip the car, add a roll cage and some safety equipment and you are racing! The PPMS Young Gun division is a no contact division that allows new racers to preserve their cars while they learn how to race!

The always popular Wacky Wheels Figure Eight Division will also be back in 2012. This is another economical way to start your racing career; choose any four or six cylinder car on the PPMS Figure 8 rules list at www.ppms.com, remove the glass and add some safety items and you are racing. Wacky Wheels action will take place on May 12th , June 9th, July 14th, August 11th and September 8th. The first place prize money is $150.00 with the second place finisher scoring a $50.00 payday.
