Screven Makes Slight Adjustment to it's Winter Freeze Schedule

Sylvania, Georgia - Officials of the Screven Motor Speedway today announced slight changes to the 2nd Annual Winter Freeze event scheduled for February 9-11, 2012. The event line-up will still include the $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model event along with the pair of $5000 to win UNOH 410 All Star Sprint races. However Screven Motor Speedway promoter James "Redd" Griffin has opted to scrap the $5000 to win Super Late Model non-qualifiers race and instead add his own Screven Late Models to the program for Friday night and a $2500 to win GM Performance (Crate) Late Model event on Saturday night. "We wanted to give our local guys a chance to race in front of a big crowd too. I had a lot of calls about adding our late models and crates so we are going to give them what they want. And both nights have a good purse attached so we hope plenty of them show up and put on a good show for these fans." said Griffin.

The SMS campus will be alive all weekend long with events going on at all other racing venues located on the property except for the Savannah River Dragway. The Gamecock Kartway will be hosting a special event both days along with the Gee-Chee Creek Mud Drag Track. Fans can also take part in the racing action by purchasing a ticket to ride the micro-sprint concession karts at the Little Screven Kart Track. As always the Screven Motor Speedway kitchen will be wide open and serving all 3 nights with restaurant style meals and the usual and not-so-usual racetrack fare.

Screven will also be open for testing February 6-8 for any race team interested in getting in some track time. Griffin plans to groom and prepare the track each night to it's competition state. Race teams can purchase test time for only $50 per race car per day. "There is a lot of work that goes into preparing the track but we want these racers to get the most out of their time here at Screven. So we felt like the $50 was fair and reasonable price to ask. And it doesn't matter if one car shows up or a 100 to practice we will get the track ready to go for them." Griffin added.
