SUPER NATIONALS I & II COMING TO ROARING KNOB IN 2012; SEASON’S
RICHEST EVENTS TO HIGHLIGHT FASTRAK NORTHEAST TOURING SERIES; OVER
$40,000 UP FOR GRABS
By Mike Leone
(Pulaski, PA)…FASTRAK Northeast directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone
have been hard at work throughout the offseason putting together a
banner 2012 season for the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Pace
Performance FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series. Two of the
newest events coming in 2012 to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex will
be like none other ever held in what will be the sixth year of the
Series.
The Markleysburg, Pa. scenic facility will again host the Northeast
Touring Series with the Lucas Oil Late Models on Friday, April 20 and
again as part of the “Fall Fest” on September 28-29; however, two
blockbuster events will also join the 2012 slate at Roaring Knob on
Saturday & Sunday, March 31-April 1 and Friday & Saturday, October
19-20. Each event will also have an open practice the night before
(except for the April 20 event).
The “Super Nationals I & II” will each feature $3,000 to-win main
events plus $1,200 to-win “Wheelman” bonus features for the first 24
non-qualifiers. Another feature event paying $500 to-win will also be
run for the next group of non-qualifiers, if car count warrants. The
$1,200 to-win races will utilize the standard Touring payoff. This
means at least 48 drivers will get to run a feature utilizing Touring
payoffs on these nights!
Not only will drivers be battling for the season’s richest purses and
important early and closing points toward the Northeast Touring
Championship, but it is also the goal to award a point fund to the top
10 racers with $1,000 to the champion. Points will be awarded for
each race at each event then totaled to determine these positions.
“We’ve always wanted to open the season with a big event,” explained
Emig. “Now not only do we have a big early season opener, but a huge
fall event as well! Rick Jones has been a big supporter of FASTRAK
and has always wanted to do a big FASTRAK event. We put our heads
together and the Super National concept was created that we’re all
really excited about.”
“The FASTRAK Northeast Super Nationals is based on the Little Guy
Nationals concept I created years ago as the promoter of Mercer
Raceway Park,” continued Emig. “This event grew into the premier
Stock Car event in the region drawing at its peak 122 stock cars. We
think we can do the same with this in time as a lot of guys are going
to have the opportunity to earn money. In fact, approximately $40,000
will be paid out to the racers during the Super Nationals!”
Each event will also be run under the qualifying/time trial format as
used in past Grand National events held in the Northeast.
The blockbuster, record-breaking 2012 schedule will be released in its
entirety at the 2011 awards banquet this Sunday, January 29 at the
Hard Rock Café Pittsburgh.
