Spring Meltdown at I-80 Speedway this weekend

BUCKNER, MO (April 5) - Saturday evening, April 7th is set to thrill fans with the first appearance of the Lucas Oil MLRA at I-80 Speedway in 2012. The destination is a familiar one for fans and drivers alike, as the Greenwood, NE oval will host the series four times this season. The annual "Spring Meltdown" is slated to bring the best Midwestern Dirt Late Model drivers together. The event will be co-sanctioned by the Corn Belt Clash series. Also up for grabs is a starting position for the "Silver Dollar Nationals" set for July 20th and 21st. This valuable starting spot will be guaranteed to the race winner on Saturday night.

Brad Looney is the defending "Spring Meltdown" winner and is planning on returning this weekend. He started out the season strong by a win on the Lucas Oil MLRA opening race at Springfield Raceway. Will Vaught was runner up to Looney in the race and is set to make his I-80 Speedway debut. Pelican 100 winner Jesse Stovall, who was in the top ten at last year's "Silver Dollar Nationals", is expected. In a new race car, Terry Phillips is scheduled to make a return trip to the track where he won his 100th Lucas Oil MLRA feature. Not to be outdone by the Missouri drivers, Kyle Berck plans to start his season at I-80 Speedway this weekend. John Anderson, who won the final night at the "Cornhusker", also held at the famed I-80 Speedway last season, is gearing up to compete at his home track. A strong contingent of Corn Belt Clash drivers from Iowa and beyond will be gunning for the $3,000 top prize too.

The pit gate opens at 3 PM and the grandstand opens at 4:30 PM. Racing will begin at 5:55 PM. Admission for adults is $20, with kids age 6-12 years just $5. Kids under 5 are admitted FREE. Also in action Saturday, will be the ASCS Midwest Region Sprint Cars and B Modifieds.
