NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR APRIL 16

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 3 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season was another competitive one, as there were 13 different winners in 13 races over five states.  The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is also showing a good trend of growth, as 205 different drivers have competed at 16 different tracks during the first three weeks of the season.

The top five drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings had Top 5 finishes in Week 3 competition and just 12 points separate the Top 10 in the point standings after Week 3 action.  Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL stands alone at the top of the list with 148 points in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.

Shaw has a one point advantage over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star and the 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS in the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star, who are tied for the second spot in the standings with 147 points.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL is fourth with 146 points in the High Roller Race Cars Special, and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fifth with 142 points in the Billy Riels Racing GRT.  Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took his third straight win Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS to move up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.

Trosclair has 140 points with two 50-point wins and one 40-point win driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Paint PDR.  A driver earns 50 points for a win against a car count of eight or more, and 40 points against a car count of less than eight.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS in the Arnold Racing Special, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS in the Lawson Construction Special, and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS in the Custom Spraying GRT are tied for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points chase with 138 points. 

Shay Knight of Columbus, MS in the LaQuinta Inns Special and Ryan King of Seymour, TN in the Brian King Roofing Stinger are tied for the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with 136 points after the first three weeks of the 27-week season.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 action, Chase Washington of Houlka, MS topped a 31-car field on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to take his second win of the season driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.  Noah Daspit of Hattiesburg, MS took the Friday night win at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Daspit Racing Special.

The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion and the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL won the season opener on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Edge’s Gas Company Special.  Edge will test an ARCA car this week at Talladega Super Speedway.

Malden Speedway in Malden, MO also opened their 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Friday night with Jaime Robards of Malden, MO taking the win driving the Robards Racing Special.

Mark Tice of Avon, MS picked up the win on Saturday night during the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season opener at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.  Tice used the new $150 Bilstein Spec shocks on his Precision Marine Trak-Star.  West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO also had their first race of the season on Saturday night with Robby Moore of Brosley, MO taking the win in the Moore Racing Special.

Greg Martin of Oliver Springs, TN drove the Biff Motorsports Special to his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.  Chris Noah of Rainbow, City, AL was the Saturday night winner at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Stephens Express Mart Special.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Champion Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS defeated a 38-car field on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Bryson Motorsports Special.  Joey Thomas of Seale, AL took his second straight win on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL in the BTR-Scorpion Race Cars Special.

The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year Larry Harrod of Plains, GA drove the Harrod Logging Special to victory on Saturday night at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA to tune up for the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Touring events at AMS on April 27 and 28.

Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL drove the Skinner Racing Trak-Star to victory on Saturday night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL.  441 Speedway in Dublin, GA did not report their Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series results.  The complete NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings can be found at www.nesmithracing.com on the Weekly Racing Series web site.
