Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Ready for Roaring Knob and Hagerstown

WAYCROSS, GA (April 18, 2012) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will again travel to the northeast this weekend and visit Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA and Hagerstown (MD) Speedway for a pair of $10,000 to win events this upcoming weekend.
 
On Friday Night, April 20th the series will visit the Rick Jones-promoted Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex for the second year in a row. Last year in the inaugural visit by the LOLMDS a record-setting crowd was on hand to witness two-time series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN take the victory. Bloomquist won his first LOLMDS event of 2012 this past weekend at Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway winning the $25,000 to win Commonwealth 100 after he started 18th.
 
On Saturday Night, April 21st the nation's biggest stars and cars of the LOLMDS will take to one of the most historic tracks in all of dirt late model racing. The LOLMDS will visit Frank Plessinger's Hagerstown Speedway for the 31st Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic. The event will mark the seventh time the LOLMDS has visited the half-mile facility in Hagerstown, MD. In a memorable race last year, John Blankenship of Williamson, WV came from the 17th starting spot to win his first career LOLMDS race. With the win Blankenship became the sixth different winner in the six events sanctioned by the series at Hagerstown.
 
Jimmy Owens continues to lead the nation's premier national championship point's standings with a slim lead over Don O'Neal. Steve Francis, Jonathan Davenport and Earl Pearson Jr. round out the top five in the series points standings heading into this weekend's events. A strong group of regional and local late model racers are expected to be competing at both events this weekend. The LOLMDS stars will have their hands full as some of the toughest competitors at defending their home tracks will be ready when the LOLMDS rolls into PA and MD this weekend.
 
"We're excited about this weekend's events and look forward to visiting the upper northeast. With numerous stars expected to attend this weekend, the fans should see some great racing during what has shaped up to be a fan friendly weekend for everyone to enjoy", stated Ritchie, Lewis, series director.
 
There will be a complete show both nights with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a $10,000 to win main event. Joining the LOLMDS at Roaring Knob will be the FASTRAK Pro Late Models paying $1,200 to win. Hagerstown Speedway will have a special Pure Stock feature event to go along with the LOLMDS main event on Saturday night.

Excitement Builds as Drivers Commit to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Weekend

WAYCROSS, GA (April 19, 2012) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are excited about this weekend's upcoming events. The LOLMDS travels to the northeast this weekend visiting Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA and Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for a pair of $10,000 to win events this Friday and Saturday.

This weekend Team Dillon Racing (TDR) drivers Austin Dillon and teammate Dale McDowell will make their first LOLMDS appearance in 2012. Austin Dillon, the 2011 NASCAR Truck Series Champion and current driver of the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) #3 NASCAR Nationwide Series car in 2012 will be behind the wheel of his dirt late model mixing it up with McDowell and the nation's biggest stars of the LOLMDS.

This weekend is shaping up to be great for the fans with numerous dirt late model stars expected to compete in the upcoming events. The stars of the LOLMDS expected to enter include 2011 series champion Jimmy Owens, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, Jonathan Davenport, Earl Pearson Jr, Dennis Erb, Jared Landers, Scott Bloomquist, Tyler Reddick, John Blankenship, Austin Hubbard, and Eric Wells. Other drivers that have indicated that they will enter this weekend include; Rick Eckert, Brian Birkhofer, Josh Richards, Shane Clanton, John Lobb, Tim Fuller, Jason Covert, Dan Stone, Jared Hawkins along with other local and regional stars from the northeast.

"We're really excited about how this weekend is shaping up with a great mixture of drivers from all over the country coming this weekend. The weather forecast looks solid and "arguably" the best fans in the country will see great racing action both nights. This will be an interesting weekend to watch many of the nations top drivers, mixing it up against some of the toughest local and regional talent the LOLMDS drivers will compete against all year", stated Ritchie, Lewis, series director.
