NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 4 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 competition will feature 13 events over five different states.  The point battle for the $10,000 championship is still tight with just 12 points separating the Top 11 drivers and just 18 points separating the Top 20. 

Week 4 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action begins on Friday night with races scheduled for Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.  There are ten NeSmith Chevrolet WRS races on the schedule for this Saturday night.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events are scheduled for Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with 148 points, while Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2011and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS are tied for the second spot with 147 points.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL is fourth with 146 points, and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fifth with 142 points.  Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is sixth with 140 points and will be looking for his fourth straight win on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway.  Trosclair is also looking to pick up 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight night of perfect attendance at PCS.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS, and Brent Barrett of Cleveland. MS are tied for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 138 points.  Shay Knight of Columbus, MS and Ryan King of Seymour, TN are tied for the tenth spot with 136 points.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals over the 27-week season.  They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season.  The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.  There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR APRIL 23

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There is a new point leader on top of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 4 competition that saw nine different winners in ten races.  Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA leads the standings with 205 points after his fourth straight win at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting & Paint Special.

Even though it was a 40-point win, Trosclair used 25 bonus points on Saturday night for his fourth consecutive race with perfect attendance at Pike County Speedway to put him in the lead of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 205 points. 

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL traveled to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Saturday night and took his second win of the season driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.  Shaw has sole possession of the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 198 points, just seven point behind Trosclair.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS both had wins in Week 4 competition and are tied for the third spot in the standings with 197 points.

Lee grabbed his second win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star, and McDuffie took his second win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star.  Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL holds down the fifth spot with 192 points in the High Roller Race Cars Special.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS in the Billy Riels Racing GRT and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS in the Custom Spraying, Inc. GRT are tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 187 points. 

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS in the Lawson Construction Special and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS in the Billy Riels Racing GRT are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 186 points.  Billy Riels Racing has three team cars in the Top 10 of the point standings.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 183 points driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.  Just 22 points separate the Top 10, and only 15 points separate second through tenth spots.  First through 20th spot are separated by 35 points.

The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region champion and 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL had a busy and successful week.

Edge started his racing week off on Wednesday at Talladega Super Speedway where he took his first drive on an asphalt race track during a test session in an ARCA super speedway car.  Edge reached speeds over 180 miles per hour during the session.  It was back to his dirt late model race car for Edge on Friday and Saturday, as he notched up two wins.

On Friday night, Edge drove the Edge’s Gas Company Special to his second straight win at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and then followed that up with a victory on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 action, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN topped a 20-car field on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Smithbuilt Homes Special, and Neil Lee of Flowood, MS took the win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the JWH Equipment GRT.

The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Runner-Up Duke Palasini of Leland, MS picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS at the wheel of the Palasini Farms Special.  Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove the Mike Atchison Body Shop Special to victory on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.
