Spatola captures ALMS Player Hater 50 victory at Winston Speedway



ROTHBURY, MI (April 21) - The 6th Annual Integra Shocks/Keyser Manufacturing Player Hater 50 highlighted a special Saturday night, April 21st at Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan as 29 of the best UMP Super Late Model drivers and teams in the Midwest went after a $2,000 payday in the 50-lap main sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series.

Manhattan, Illinois invader, Mike Spatola made the long trip from the Prairie State for the second year in a row and for the second consecutive Player Hater, he would steer his UMP Super Late Model in victory lane over a stellar field of cars. Former UMP DIRTcar Racing Series National Champion Rusty Schlenk finished second while Dona Marcoulier, Tom Sprague Jr., and Curtis Roberts were the top five. Schlenk, Brandon Thirlby, Roberts, and Spatola won the Qualifier Heat Races while Keith Gentz and Rich Neiser won the B-main events.



In the UMP Super Late Models, Traverse City, Michigan standout, Brandon Thirlby prepared for this weeks’ Player Hater 50 by scoring the first Feature Win of the season over Tom Sprague Jr., while Zack Olger, Alan Vochaska, and defending UMP DIRTcar Racing Series Michigan State Champion, Eric Spangler were the top five. 18 cars were on hand for opening night as Four-Time and Defending Track Champion; Rich Neiser won a heat while Thirlby won the second Heat Race.
