Thunderbird Speedway Hosts Comp Cams Super Dirt Series Late Models This Friday NightMidwest City, Oklahoma – May 8, 2012 - Coming this Friday night the second annual Comp Cams Super Late Model Shootout featuring the Arkansas based Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) will take place at the famed fairgrounds half mile oval at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma with the series first of two appearances of the season.
This event will be the first of a two night swing for the series as they will head to Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren, Arkansas on Saturday night.
Last year it was Billy Moyer, Jr. of Batesville, Arkansas who found victory lane with just five laps to go in last year’s inaugural event when leaders Kelly Boen and Dane Dacus made contact entering turn one when battling for the lead, ending both drivers night. Moyer, Jr. is expected this weekend to defend his win from last season.
Robert Baker leads the point standings, but the point's battle continues to tighten. A full complement of competitors will be looking to make up ground this weekend including Jon Mitchell, Jon Kirby, Curtis Cook, Kyle Beard, Keith Lawson, Brandon Smith, Larry Campbell, Johnny Virden, Chandler Petty, Travis Ashley, and a host of others.
Baker continues to lead the series current Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings with Larry Campbell, Chandler Petty, Travis Ashley, and Kenneth Jackson in pursuit.
Track regulars expected to compete include Dillion Rupe, Brandon Mitchell, Chris Reese and Kyle Slader. Between twenty-five and thirty cars are expected.
It all takes place this Friday night, May 11th at Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma). The event will be headlined by a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start, 30 lap events for the late models.
Also in action will be the USRA modifieds, IMCA southern sport modifieds and 360 modifieds all pay $500 to win. Also the street stock division will pay $400 to win. The tracks pure stock division will also be competing.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults with children (11-17 years-of-age) $5 and kids (10 years-of-age and under) free. Pit passes are $30. Hot laps are 7pm with racing action at 7:30pm. For more information on the events please visit
