Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Begins Month of June at Tazewell and Florence

WAYCROSS, GA (May 31, 2012) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series kicks off the month of June with two special events this weekend. On Friday Night, June 1st, the series visits Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN. Saturday night, June 2nd, the series makes its way to Florence Speedway in Union, KY.
 
There will be a complete show both nights for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, beginning with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and then, capped off by $10,000 to win/$800 to start main events.
 
The visit to "The Taz" on Friday night will mark the eighth time the LOLMDS has raced at the ultra high banked Gary Hall-promoted facility. Jared Landers of Batesville, AR won last year's Toyota Knoxville 50 event before a huge crowd. Another long-standing track on the LOLMDS schedule is Florence Speedway. Saturday night's trip to the King Family-promoted racetrack will be the 13th time that the track has hosted the LOLMDS. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN won last year's Ralph Latham Memorial Race at the racey ½ mile track.
 
Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is coming off his 2nd consecutive victory in the 20th Annual DART Show-Me 100 - Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com and will be joined by the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this weekend at Tazewell and Florence. Don O'Neal is currently second in the LOLMDS Championship Points Standings. Rounding out the Top-5 are Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; and Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.
 
Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA is currently sixth in points, followed by Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, IL; Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Austin Hubbard of Seaford, DE; and Eric Wells of Hazard, KY. Davenport leads Hubbard by 140-points in the chase for the 2012 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year honors.
