Carl Billet Claims Third Win of Season at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA (June 23, 2012) –York’s Carl Billet won his third 25-lap Late Model feature event of the season on Saturday Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Hometown Heroes night for Lewisberry, Etters, Camp Hill and New Cumberland. Doug Bennett of Chambersburg continued his winning streak by winning his sixth 20-lap Street Stock feature in a row. Johnny Palm of Elliottsburg won his second consecutive 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature of the season. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe won the Road Warrior 15-lapper for his fourth victory of the year. Zakari Kitner of York Haven won his first career 10-lap Pro Sign & Design Mini Van feature event. The 25-lap Late Model feature began with polesitter Matt Adams taking the early lead. Billy Wampler took over the top spot on the fourth circuit. Wampler continued to lead until Carl Billet moved in on his rear bumper in the waning stages of the race after starting in the eighth position. Billet moved by Wampler coming out of turn two on lap 23 and held on for his third victory of the season. Wampler settled for a strong but disappointing second place followed by the JR’s Paving Hard Charger of the race, Justin Ehrhart. Ehrhart started 12th and moved up 9 positions. Bob Minnich and Randy Christine Jr. finished fourth and fifth respectively. Carl Billet, Denny Willey and Paul Cursey were the heat race victors. From the front row, Brian Rehbein took the early lead of the Street Stock 20-lapper. On lap 6, Nick Bloom moved past Rehbein to take the top spot. One lap later, Jasen Geesaman took the lead from Bloom on the very next lap. Geesaman led until Doug Bennett scooted by on lap 15 and went on to record his sixth consecutive win of the season. Randy Zechman finished strong in second, followed by a solid run for third by Jasen Geesaman. Scott Thunberg and Mike Zeigler Jr. were fourth and fifth respectively. Zechman and Geesaman were heat race winners. In a very competitive 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Tim Hahn Palm took the lead on the start. Johnny Palm took the lead on the third circuit with Patrick McClane taking the top spot on the very next lap. Bad luck struck McClane as he retired from the race with mechanical failures on lap 10, giving the lead back to Palm. Palm went on to collect his second consecutive feature win of the season over Chad Stine and Adam Smith. Donnie Broderick was the Madison House Hard Charger by going from a 12th place starting spot to finish fourth in the 20 lapper. Cameron Benyou rounded out the top five. Heat races were claimed by Benyou and McClane. York Haven’s Zakari Kitner took the lead at the start and led to the finish to claim his first career Pro Sign & Design Mini Van 10-lap feature victory over Anthony Roberts. Al Kessock took third place with Donny Groff and Jeremy Haines rounding out the top five. Roberts won the heat race earlier in the evening. In the 15-lap Road Warrior feature, Daryl Sipe took the lead from Adam Peters on the second lap and never looked back to collect his fourth win of the season. Curt McDade finished in the runner-up spot, followed by Peters in third. Thomas Thompson finished in fourth with Dennis Dorosz in fifth. Gary Grim won the heat race.
