Zona Wires LM Field For First Selinsgrove Win

SELINSGROVE, PA (July 28) - The 25-lap late model feature was won by Dave Zona of Montross. The win was Zona’s first career at the track, and he became the division’s seventh different feature winner.

In the late model feature, third-place starter Dave Zona darted into the early lead and was followed closely by fifth-place starter Matt Cochran. On the second circuit, eighth-place starter Dylan Yoder passed Cochran for second and set his sites on Zona.

The caution flag unfurled on lap three when Bryan Bernheisel and Steve Campbell crashed in turn three. The wreck also sidelined Kenny Trevitz and Tony Adams with damage to their race cars.

When the race resumed, Zona continued to set the pass in front of D. Yoder. On the 11th circuit, seventh-place starter Jim Yoder drove by Cochran for the third position. On a lap 18 restart, D. Yoder attempted a pass by Zona in turns one and two to no avail.

In the final laps of the race, Zona pulled away from the field while an intense battle for second unfolded between the father-and-son Yoders. At the checkered flag, Zona was victorious by 2.4 seconds over J. Yoder, D. Yoder, J. Bernheisel, and Jeff Rine.
