A Few New Faces in Victory Lane on Saturday Night, August 11 at SSP

Newberrytown, PA (August 11, 2012) – Dover's J.R. Rodriguez collected his first career Late Model feature win in the 25 lapper on Saturday Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Randy Zechman of Littlestown collected his first win of the season claiming the 20-lap Street Stock feature. Lewisberry’s Adam Smith made a last lap pass to capture the his first Xtreme Stock Car feature of the season as well. York Haven's Daryl Sipe won the Road Warrior 15-lapper. Donny Groff led from start-to-finish to win the Pro Sign & Design Mini Van feature.

The 25-lap Late Model feature began with J.R. Rodriguez taking the lead from the front row at the start. Chase Billet, Carl Billet and Billy Wampler immediately set their sights on Rodriguez and the top spot. Throughout the entire race Chase Billet challenged Rodriguez on the low side as Rodriguez maintained a steady line around the top. Billet just edged Rodriguiez to the line on lap 23 before the caution flew, setting up a two lap shootout for the win. On the restart, Rodriguez went back to the top and on the final lap, blasted back by Billet coming off turn two. Rodriguez collected his career first Late Model win over Billet with Carl Billet finishing close in third. John Moser Jr. finished fourth and claimed $50.00 as the JR's Paving Hard Charger award after starting the race in fifteenth. Billy Wampler rounded out the top five. Carl Billet, Paul Cursey Jr. and Rodriguez were the heat race victors. Dan Zechman was the consolation race winner.

From the front row, Doug Bennett took the early lead of the Street Stock 20-lapper. A flat tire sent Bennett to the rear after changing it on lap 3, giving the lead to Brian Rehbein. Rehbein led until lap 8 when Randy Zechman took the top spot away from Rehbein. Midway through the race, Scott Thunberg moved into the runner-up spot to challenge Zechman but could never make the pass for the lead. At the end, Zechman took the win over Thunberg. In his first Street Stock outing of the season, Gary Potts collected third with Rehbein in fourth. Doug Bennett made his way back through the field to finish fifth. Jim Palm Jr., Ricky Bender and Potts were heat race winners.

In the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Donnie Broderick took the lead from the pole position. Halfway through the race, Adam Smith moved from a sixth place starting spot and into the runner-up spot behind Broderick. A caution with two laps remaining set up a two lap race for the win. On the final circuit, coming off turn four, Smith made the pass for the win and held on for his season’s first. Broderick settled for second followed by Patrick McClane in third. Jim Palm Jr. took foruth position followed by Dave Goode Sr. in fifth. Heat races were claimed by Cameron Benyou and Smith.

In the 15-lap Road Warrior feature, Daryl Sipe took the lead on lap 6 from Adam Peters and sailed to his sixth win of the season. Peters settled for second with Curt McDade in third. Jason Funk finished fourth in his first outing with Dennis Dorosz rounding out the top five. Victory lane was cancelled after Sipe stopped his car in front of the entire field in turn 4 after the race for some unknown reason thus causing unnecessary damage to many cars. Dorosz and Sipe won their respective heat races.

Donny Groff took the lead on the start and won the 10-lap Pro Sign & Design Mini Van feature. Jeremy Haines finished second with Anthony Roberts, Zakari Kitner and Al Kessock rounding out the top five. Kitner won the heat race.
