Ray Cook Runner-Up in Buck Simmons Tribute; Heads to Bulls Gap Tonight

BRASSTOWN, NC (August 23) - Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, ventured to the Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, Georgia on Saturday night, August 18 for the 'Buck Simmons Tribute' race.  The Ultimate Super Late Model Series presided over the one-day event, which honored the late Buck Simmons, and a $4,100 top prize was on the line.  Ray fought a loose racecar during the qualifying session, but locked himself into the feature by posting the fourth quickest lap.  The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" then moved up two spots in the 41-lapper to record a strong runner-up effort behind only race winner Casey Roberts.  Full results from Toccoa can be viewed online at www.ultimatesupers.com.

Next up for the D&R Motorsports team will be a trip to the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee tonight, August 23 for the annual running of the ‘Scorcher.’  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the single day showdown at “The Gap” and a $10,000 winner’s check is up for grabs.  Ray has enjoyed several trips to victory lane at Bulls Gap in recent years and finished a solid seventh in last year’s edition of the ‘Scorcher.’  Additional information on this show can be obtained by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.
