Mark Dowdy Racing Labor Day Weekend Recapp

Waterloo, AL (09/06/12) – Mark Dowdy Racing returned to racing action this past Labor Day Weekend at Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, Tn.) on Saturday Sept. 1st finishing ninth and an attempt was made at Duck River Raceway but mother nature had other plans on Sunday Sept. 2nd, 2012.
 
MDR made the short trek to Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday September 1st, 2012 to compete in the Pittman Dutton & Hellums Law Firm/Rather Sewer Inspection Services/Tolbert Performance/FK Rod Ends/ Maniac Engines/ Warrior Chassis for a weekly limited late model event. Dowdy and team set the car up to qualify and Dowdy laid a solid qualifying effort down and qualified mid pack in the seventh position amongst the 10 cars in attendance.
 
When feature time rolled to the grid for the 20 lap show down, Dowdy and team had made the final adjustments and were set to do battle. When the field took the green flag for the event Dowdy fired the Maniac Race engines/Warrior Chassis right in the mix with the rest of the competitors. On the second lap entering turn 1 on the bottom groove, Dowdy hit a slick spot of oil left over from the previous feature causing him to spin and bring out the caution. Dowdy would have to take up the rear of the field in the 9th position. On the restart Dowdy made no haste to start moving forward and mixing it up, Dowdy moved the Warrior chassis from the top the to bottom of the track trying to advance positions but on lap 12, the car would lose its power steering and Dowdy entering turn three would spin the car into the turn three retaining wall. No significant damage was done to the Warrior chassis but it would end the night for the Mark Dowdy Racing Team and a ninth place finish.
 
The team regrouped on Sunday and repaired the damage from the previous night. The Mark Dowdy Racing team loaded up and headed north to Duck River Raceway Park, LLC for a $1000 To-Win Limited Late model event. As the team arrived at Duck River, rain was setting in to hamper the show for the night. The team waited to see if the show would go on but mother nature won the race on Sunday night.
 
The Mark Dowdy Racing Team will be returning to Duck River Raceway Park, LLC on Saturday September 8th, 2012 for the Make-Up Labor Day Weekend Special. Mark & Team will be competing in the 2 Barrel Late Model $1000 To-Win portion of the event.
