Hesston Distributes 2012 Speedmonster Points Bonus and Sets 2013 Schedule

HESSTON, PA (November 28) - Hesston Speedway established itself as a major force in the region's Super Late Model scene in 2012 with its new Speedmonster Super Series with strong car counts and excellent racing action. 83 different Super Late Model drivers competed at "Motor Mountain" during the season with Nick Dickson of Lewistown, PA coming out on top as the 2012 Speedmonster Super Late Model Champion.
 
The Speedway has distributed $4,500 in points bonus money to the top 6 finishers in the Speedmonster Super Series. This points bonus was made possible by the strong supported by American Racer, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Precise Racing and Lias Tire along with contributions from Hesston Speedway.  The Speedmonster points bonus was paid on top of any point money won from the participating Three State Flyers and ULMS racing series. Despite weather reducing the Speedmonster events to 4 events and 66% of the original schedule, 90% of the full point fund was paid to the participating drivers.
 
Dickson had an excellent year with several $5,000 to win victories at different tracks including the "Superthunder Road" Speedmonster opener at Hesston, as well as the Hagerstown track championship.  His amazing 24th to 1st run at "Superthunder Road" would be a sign of his 2012 Speedmonster championship to come. With every position counting for precious points. Dickson's championship was won by only 8 points. Dickson collected a $1,800 bonus as the 2012 Speedmonster champion.
 
Jerry Bard of Shippensburg, PA finished 2nd in Speedmonster points by only 1 point over Scott LeBarron of Dillsburg, PA. Both drivers had strong runs during "The Ultimate" weekend that vaulted them to the top of the point standings.   Jason Covert of York Haven, PA came home 2nd in "The Ultimate" to secure 4th in points followed by "Revolution 2012" winner Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills. Dylan Yoder's 12th to 3rd run in "The Ultimate" moved the Selingsgrove, PA driver into 6th in Speedmonster ranking.
 
Hesston has already set is 2013 schedule of events. 5 Speedmonster Super Series races will headline the schedule. The 3 State Flyers will participate in 4 of the events with additional sanctioning being secured for the events.  
 
The season will kick off on Saturday, May 4 with "Night of Power" featuring Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners. The 1st Speedmonster & 3 State Flyers Super Late Model event at Hesston for 2013 will be on Sunday, May 26 with "Superthunder Road" paying $5,200 to win for a 52 lap feature. The rain date for this event in Sunday, June 9.
 
The 3 State Flyers will return for the next 3 Speedmonster events. "Revolution 2013" will also showcase the Super Late Models for $5,200 to win on Thursday, July 4 with a rain date of Sunday, July 8.   The "Eriksen Grand Prix" on Sunday, July 29 will honor the track's founders with a 44-lap, $4,000 to win Super Late Model feature. The rain date for that event will be Sunday, August 4.   On Sunday, September 1, Mega-Blitz Mach 3 will feature 3 late model-type features including twin 33 lap Super Late Model features paying a total of $5,200 to win and a 33 lap Semi-Late Model Sportsman feature.
 
The 2013 season will conclude with the prestige of "The Ultimate" on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 10-11-12.   This mega-payoff event attracted a record 183 total car count at Hesston in 2012 and promises to be more spectacular in 2013.
 
2013 car rules at Hesston will accommodate the majority of cars that race in the area.   All car rules will remain similar to 2012 with adjustments as necessary for competition or to accommodate other track rules.   Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/steel block/crate late model), A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) and Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stock/charger) will compete at all 5 Speedmonster events.   A new weight category has been created in the A-Cadet rules to accommodate 8" tire pro-stock type cars from the east.
