Late Model racer's novel discussed on YouTube...

Looking for a Christmas gift idea? This one's good for anybody, women or men and you'd be keeping some of your dollars in the 'racing family'.

Didn't see this on YouTube when it first got posted back on September 15th but this is pretty cool to watch. It's Kyle Cummings and his sister Dana Haynes talking about their late father Rusty Cummings and the novel he wrote just before is untimely passing due to ALS (Lou Gehrig disease). Rusty is one of north Louisiana's all-time great dirt track racers out of Minden.

Kyle ain't too shabby himself. He won several races with Childress Racing in a Late Model and had a whole bunch of Modified wins with his own team. Most came in an old 3-link Hot Chassis and the recent wins came in one of Mike Boland's Trakstar Modifieds. He had a good run or two this past season with Erb Racing out of Houston in a Late Model too. Like most of our area race teams, Kyle struggles to find the sponsors and dollars to run his own team but if you need a 'shoe' for a Modified or a Late Model, that guy can get it done!

Rusty Cummings was a SUPR Late Model champion and raced for many years around north Louisiana before and after that title year. You'll find out from watching the video, that the book has nothing to do with racing and was a complete departure from anything Rusty had ever done in his life. He took a big leap and by all accounts from those who read 'For a Million Summers', he did quite well!

The book is available at Amazon.com for $15.75.
