David Breazeale and Henderson Motorsports Back in Victory Lane with MSCCS

by Ben Shelton
LAUREL, Mississippi (03/19/13) –  Henderson Motorsports competed in a pair of events with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Models over the weekend in their home state, and by the time the final checkered flag had dropped David Breazeale had claimed his first win with the tour in almost two years.

On Saturday night the MSCCS opened their 2013 campaign at Rodney Wing's Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) with a $2,500-to-win event.  With 30 Super Late Models in the pit area David Breazeale qualified second fastest in his group in his #54 Mastersbilt/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model to earn the fourth starting spot in the pole-sitter's dash.  In the dash he raced to a third place finish, which locked him into the third starting spot for the 50 lap feature.  He battled in the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in sixth behind race winner, Bub McCool, Chris Wall, BJ Robinson, Chad Thrash, and Rick Rickman.

Leon Henderson fell just short of qualifying for the feature via preliminary action in his #10 Victory Circle by Moyer/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model and utilized a series' provisional to start the main event in the twenty-first position.  Despite starting deep in the field he advanced nine spots on his way to a twelfth place finish at the checkered flag.

Sunday night found Breazeale in action at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) in a $2,000-to-win, MSCCS event at the state-of-the-art, 3/8 mile oval.  Twenty-six competitors registered for battle, and for the second straight night David locked into the pole-sitter's dash.  He advanced from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish in the dash, which gave him the second starting spot for the 40 lap feature alongside pole sitter, Neil Baggett.

As the feature went green Breazeale bolted to the lead and held the top spot early in the race before Chris Wall took over command. David kept the leader in check in his #54 Mastersbilt and with just a few laps remaining he retook the top spot on his way to his first win of 2013 and his first MSCCS win in almost two years! Dane Dacus, Scott Dedwylder, Chris Wall, and Neil Baggett rounded out the top five.

"It's just great to not only win for Henderson Motorsports, but to be racing again with them period," notes Breazeale.  "They are great people and great friends, and it's a lot of fun to race for this team.  I have to thank them along with all of my sponsors and fans."

This weekend, the team is slated to enter a single event as they travel to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) on Saturday night for a $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model event.  The program marks the first time that the sanction has ever competed at the oval.
