Rod and R.J. Conley Both Record Victories Last Weekend

WHEELERSBURG, OH (April 24)- Brothers Rod and R.J. Conley both picked up their first feature wins of the young 2013 racing season on Saturday night, April 20 in their home state of Ohio!  Rod timed in fifth fastest in qualifying and later won the dash at the Jackson County Speedway in Jackson, Ohio to earn the pole position for the ADRA-sanctioned main event.  "Hot Rod" then led from flag-to-flag in the feature to claim the $2,000 top prize over Jason Montgomery, John Whitney, Jr., Wayne Hughes, and Brian Casey.

R.J. unloaded his #71c at the nearby Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio on Saturday for a regular weekly show.  After laying down the second quickest lap during the qualifying session, R.J. finished third in the dash to earn the inside second row starting spot in the 25-lapper.  The Wheelersburg ace then captured the $1,500 payday in the A-Main after passing race long leader Josh McGuire on the final circuit. R.J. beat McGuire, Paul Davis, Billy Gullion, and Tommy Carlton to the checkers.

Both drivers were also in action on Thursday evening, April 18 at the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky.  Ray Cook's Spring Nationals tour invaded the eastern Kentucky oval to preside over a $4,000 to win affair.  Rod ran third in his B-Main to earn the seventeenth starting spot in the 40-lap main event. Behind the wheel of his #71r Rocket entry, Rod utilized the bottom groove of the facility to blast past fifteen competitors en route to a stellar runner-up performance behind only winner Eddie Carrier, Jr.  R.J. qualified second fastest in Group B and led laps 3-21 of the A-Main before settling for a strong third place effort.  Complete results from the busy weekend can be viewed online at www.southernnationalsseries.com, www.jacksoncospeedway.com, and www.southernohiospeedway.com.

Rod and R.J. are both scheduled to return to action this Friday night, April 26 at the nearby Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio.  A $1,500 winner’s check has been established for Friday at SOS.  The weekly race will serve as the final tune-up before the big 18th Annual ‘Southern 100’ weekend, which will be held on May 3-4 at the historic facility.  Additional information can be accessed by clicking on www.southernohiospeedway.com.
