Brian Birkhofer Heads to Lernerville Following Pair of Podium Summer Nationals Runs

MUSCATINE, IA (June 26) - The Birkhofer Racing team scored a pair of podium finishes on the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals trail over the June 21-22 weekend in the Land of Lincoln!  On Friday night at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Brian Birkhofer timed in third fastest in his group during the qualifying session and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race.  After starting the $10,000 to win main event from the outside of the seventh row, Brian blitzed through the talented field to earn a strong third place performance behind only race winner Chris Simpson and runner-up Brady Smith.

At the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, another $10,000 top prize was on the line.  Brian laid down the second quickest lap in his group during time trials and later took the win in heat race action.  The Muscatine, Iowa native then started the 50-lapper from the pole position, led laps 27-36, and eventually guided his #15b to a runner-up effort behind only victor Ryan Unzicker.  Complete results from these two races can be accessed by clicking on www.thehelltour.com.

The #15b team will now turn their attention to the 7th Annual 'Firecracker 100' on June 27-29 at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.  The three-day World of Outlaws Late Model Series extravaganza will kick-off with a pair of $6,000 to win prelims on Thursday and Friday.  Things will heat up in a big way on Saturday, as a 100-lap main event will close out the weekend.  A $30,000 payday will once again greet the winner of this year's version of the 'Firecracker 100.'  Brian is a former winner of the 'Firecracker 100,' as he took home the checkers back in 2008.  Additional information concerning this crown jewel event can be accessed by logging onto www.woolms.com.
