Brady Smith Climbs Ten Spots in USA Nationals; Preps for Florence this Weekend

SOLON SPRINGS, WI (August 8) - The Brady Smith Racing team will make the long trip south to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for this weekend’s 31st Annual ‘North/South 100.’  The crown jewel event will kick off on Friday, August 9 with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and a fast dash, while the action will really heat up on Saturday, August 10 with heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lapper.

As is the norm, a $50,000 top prize has been established for the victor of the ‘North/South 100’ this weekend and each feature starter is guaranteed at least $2,500.  The high-definition cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios will be on the grounds at the 1/2-mile facility to tape all of the action for broadcast later in the Fall.  Additional information concerning the ‘North/South 100’ weekend can be obtained by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Brady Smith is coming off of a very busy week in his home state of Wisconsin from July 30-August 3, as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presided over a trio of high-profile races at Shawano Speedway in Shawano and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond.  Brady’s best effort of the week came in the biggest show – the 26th edition of the ‘USA Nationals’ at Cedar Lake.  The Solon Springs, Wisconsin ace ran fourth in his heat race on Friday night, but later earned the second transfer spot through his B-Main on Saturday.  After rolling off from the outside of the eleventh row in the $50,000 to win crown jewel extravaganza, Brady picked off ten competitors during the 100 green flag laps to score a respectable twelfth place finish.

In other action earlier in the week, Brady unfortunately failed to transfer into the $6,000 to win ‘USA Nationals’ lid lifter on Thursday at CLS after finishing seventh in his heat race and eighth in his B-Main.  At Shawano on Tuesday, the driver known as the “Prodigy” received a WOOLMS provisional to gain access into the $10,000 to win main event, but retired early in the 50-lap affair to finish in the twenty-fourth position.  You can view a complete race-by-race recap from the busy week by logging onto www.bradysmithracing.com.
