Rine earns Late Model checkers at Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE, PA (August 17) - Veteran racer Scott Haus started on the pole in the late model feature and stormed into the early lead. On the second circuit, third-place starter Chris Shuey passed second-place starter Hayes Mattern for the runner-up position.

On a lap nine restart, Shuey put in a bid for the lead and made a pass by Haus using the inside line. Two laps later, seventh-place starter Matt Cochran powered into second while 11th-place starter Jeff Rine moved into the third position. On the 14th circuit, Rine made the winning pass by Shuey using the inside lane off turn four. By lap 18, 12th-place starter Bryan Bernheisel began to show a lot of speed and took over the third position.

Rine pulled away from the field and scored a 5.5-second victory over B. Bernheisel, who got by Shuey for second on the final lap. Shuey, Cochran, and ninth-place starter Jim Bernheisel rounded out the top five.
