Jeep Van Wormer Suffers Untimely Flat at Tri-City; Gears Up for World 100

PINCONNING, MI (August 29) - The Iron Motorsports team made a last minute decision to travel to the Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan on Friday night, August 23 for a weekly Super Late Model event, which paid $1,055 to the winner.  Jeep Van Wormer started ninth in his heat race and blasted to the front to take the prelim win.  After rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in the main event, Jeep once again rocketed towards the top spot.  Unfortunately, the Pinconning, Michigan ace suffered an untimely flat tire while running second, which forced him to retire in the fifteenth position.  Complete results from Tri-City Motor Speedway can be found online at www.tricityracetrack.com.

While the #55 team plans to take the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition, they will be hard at work preparing for the rapidly approaching 'World 100.'  The event known as "The Granddaddy of Them All" will take place on September 5-7 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.  Thursday and Friday night at the "Big E" will feature complete shows with a full slate of multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner.  On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap 'World 100,' which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the 'World 100' is a record $283,910.  Jeep, who has been a stalwart throughout his career at the 1/2-mile oval, has transferred into the fabled 'World 100' on seven different occasions.  He has three Top Five finishes to his credit including a pair of third place efforts in 2006 and 2008.  Additional information concerning the biggest race in the Dirt Late Model industry can be viewed by clicking on www.eldoraspeedway.com.
