Carolina Clash Set to Mark an "End to Summer" at Fayetteville Motor Speedway
Race #5 of the Countdown to the Cup Championship Chase This Saturday

by Mark Huey, Carolina Clash PR
By far one of the hottest super late model drivers in the south right now is Gaffney, SC veteran Dennis Franklin, who has captured checkered-flags at three of the first four races in the Carolina Clash championship campaign. Franklin, who most recently picked up his 30th career victory at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA, is not planning on stopping any time soon to capture his third series title in four years. However, Fayetteville could be somewhat of a wild-card in this championship race as Franklin is being chased by 5-time champion Ricky Weeks and Kannapolis, NC veteran Tim "The Toolman" Allen, who won the first race of the year at Fayetteville in March.

Ricky Weeks has captured the most checkered-flags at Fayetteville Motor Speedway with Carolina Clash than all active Clash drivers. Weeks has carded eight wins all-time since 2001. Point leader Dennis Franklin (1151) has four wins at Fayetteville, including the 2013 Al Lucas Memorial Race in June. Tim Allen (1133) only trails Ricky Weeks (1134) by one point, while Clover, SC driver Johnny Pursley sits in fourth just seven back of Allen. 2012 series champion Luke Roffers is currently fifth, but has gone winless over the 2013 season. Roffers was very successful at Fayetteville in 2012. Damon Kotke, Kyle Pierce, Michael Marlowe, Mike Gault and Ross Bailes round out the top 10, where the 6th, 7th and 8th positions are only separated by 4 points.

Other Carolina Clash regulars who have taken victories from Fayetteville include: Luke Roffers (5), Scott Autry (2), Tim Allen (2), Dustin Mitchell (1), and Gary Mabe (1).

The 2013 Rookie of the Year standings has Damon Kotke leading Kyle Pierce by 27 points with three races left on the schedule, by a 352-325 margin.

Roush Yates Performance Parts representatives Angela Jensen and Mike Alvarez have provided three more gift certificates to the fastest qualifier, the 11th place finisher, and the last place finisher.

Safety-Kleen of St. Paul's, NC has provided products to be distributed to the Hard Charger of the Race for each of the previous events in the 2013 season and those will distributed at Fayetteville.

In addition to the Carolina Clash Super Late Models, the Fayetteville racing program will include weekly racing in Late Model, Open Wheel Modified, Super Street, Pure Stock, and U-Car. Pits open at 3 PM. with grandstands opening at 4 PM. and racing at 7 PM. For additional information contact Larry Norris at 910-890-1866.

Fayetteville Motor Speedway is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina off Interstate 95 at Exit 44 @ Claude Lee Rd. Follow the signs around to Doc Bennett Rd., then to the speedway!
