CRAIG REECE's CAPITAL/FORD POWERED CRATE WINS NORTH GA SPEEDWAY WARM-UP RACE #2

by Steve Hixson
CHATSWORTH, GA (September 28) --- The "Dalton Bad Boy" Craig Reece took a home-track victory Saturday night at the North GA Speedway in nearby Chatsworth, GA. The Crate LM Warm-Up Race #2 sponsored by Reece's "National Title Pawn" saw 25-raceteams enter the $1,200 to-WIN event that is serving as a warm-up to October 12th's "1-Big Crate ShowDown" $5,000 to-WIN race coming up in two weeks at the 1/3 mile ultra-fast dirt track. In qualifying Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, set quick-time to earn the pole over Reece whom broke a drive-shaft preparing to hot lap early in the event. Brindle and Reece would swap the lead on lap two with Brindle (driving Mitchell Stanley's racecar) falling back to 3rd yielding to fellow neighbor Allen Green at the start of the feature. The first of five cautions would appear on lap 9 as the yellow #74 "National Title Pawn, Schaeffer's Oil, Fusion Cube Technologies, Cody McCarver, GW Performance, AFCO Racing Products, All-Star Performance, Hunter Worley Foundation, Sweet Mfg, TCN Country Music Network, Airport Auto Sales, ASi Racewear, Hoosier South, Simpson Racing Products, Allstar Performance, Outlaw Racing Graphics and Billy Johnson's AllState Agency" Marshal Green Capital / Jack Cornett Thunder racecar pulled away from the field early.

Cleveland, TN's Tanner Works held strong in the top-5 working the high-side as Brindle dug under Green back for the runner-up spot on the first restart. Brad Coffey ended his Top-5 run just past the half-way point with a solo spin in turn 1, just a few laps after Michael Richardson surfed down the front straight-away wall. Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN waited til the last possible moment to get by Green for fourth as the checkered flag flew. In other racing action "Shaggy" Aaron Wilson inherited a shortened LLM Steelhead race win, when Johnny Cloer Jr. blew. A bad red flag crash took out half the field when Lee Gray stalled down the back stretch destroying Gary McPherson's, Tod Hernandez's and Brian Burke's racecars. Greg Tinker won the Mod Hobby feature, Grady Stokes won the Sportsman feature. Shane Smith took the Econo Hobby feature and survived a post-race protest. Dillon Davenport won a wild Pony race, while David Ghorley took the Mod Lite feature. North GA Speedway takes next Saturday (Oct. 5th) off before returning to action with the 1-Big Crate ShowDown, Saturday October 12th paying $5,000 to-WIN for the Crate LM's. All Classes (LLM Steelhead, Econo & Mod Hobby, Sportsman, Pony and Mod Lites) will compete a full racing program on Oct. 12th.
