BIG BEN FAIRCLOTH CLOCKS COCHRAN CRATE WIN

COCHRAN, GA (October 19) - Cochran (GA) Motor Speedway officials faced light occasional rain-showers all day Saturday yet hosted the “Let’s Get Dirty: Ford Vs, Chevy Crate Showdown $3,000 to-Win race and “Big” Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA swept the event setting fast time before leading all 40 laps of feature. Faircloth clocked a 14:722 in Schaeffer’s Oil Qualifying time trials over nineteen other race-teams earning the pole for the “A”Main race. After a pair of failed initial starts Faircloth lead the field single-file to the green and the #27 “Dublin Tire, Faircloth Logging, GSA Georgia Sports Arena, Richards Carbs. sponsored GRT immediately pulled away from fellow front row competitor Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL. Fifth running Ford Craig Reece and Pearson Lee Williams of nearby Dublin wheel hopped off of turn two to rear an early caution. Williams able to continue, rallied to a fourth place finish after battling with neighbor Blake Smith and Dalton Cook during the race. Ricky Culpepper of Hamilton, GA finished third behind Dudley whom challenged leader Faircloth after a late caution on lap 35. Country music singer Cody McCarver wrapped up the racing program with a Pit Party after the races concluded late Saturday night singing his tunes live on-stage in the infield. Cochran Motor Speedway will host the season ending November Arlene Pittman Memorial event next month, but no details are available at press-time.
