Ultimate Super Late Model Series Will Sanction 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial at Ponderosa Speedway Friday August 22

by Michael Despain
Junction City, KY (January 16) - Ponderosa Speedway track promoter is excited to make some announcements concerning the 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial event that is set to take place at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday August 22.  The event will now be sanctioned, will also have a presenting sponsor, and will have a fast qualifier award.

The Ultimate Super Late Model Series, based in Carnesville, GA, will now be the sanctioning body for the Super Late Model portion of the 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial event.  The event will pay $10,001 to win and will feature many of the new faces to Super Late Model competition at Ponderosa Speedway.  It will also mark the first time in the history of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series that the tour will have sanctioned an event in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.  Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA is the defending Ultimate Super Late Model Series champion and Brett Miller of Greenville, TN is the defending Rookie of the Year for the tour.  For more information concerning the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, visit the tour’s website on the world wide web at www.ultimatesupers.com.

The event also now a presenting sponsor as well.  Sweet Beans and Things, with locations in Liberty, KY and Russell Springs, KY, will now be the presenting sponsor of the event.  The event will now be known as the 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial presented by Sweet Beans and Things and will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series.

Revelution Chassis, based in Richmond, KY, will also be on board as part of the 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial presented by Sweet Beans and Things.  Revelution Chassis will sponsor the fast-time award for the event, with $200 going to the top qualifier at the Friday August 22 event.

The Open Wheel Modified division is also scheduled at the 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial presented by Sweet Beans and Things event as well.  The Modifieds will race for $2,500 to win at the Friday August 22 race.  Other support divisions will be announced closer to the time of the event.

The John Bradshaw Memorial event returns to the Ponderosa Speedway race docket after not being contested in 2012.  The late Mr. Bradshaw was a former track promoter at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval and the event is held in his honor and memory.  The race was first contested in 2003 and Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY would take the win, while 2013 Modified track champion Benji Lee of Loretto, KY scored the biggest win of his Dirt Late Model career by scoring the event win in 2004.  The 2005 edition of the race would be scored by Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV, while Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN would grab the race win in 2006.  Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would take the event victory in 2007 on a day that saw the thermometer push up to 102 degrees, while Rob Blair of Titusville, PA would score the win in the 2008 event in his only appearance ever at the track, which was sanctioned by the former tour known as the Independent Racing Series.  Defending Super Late Model track champion would take the win in the 2009 event in a Battle of the Bluegrass Series sanctioned event, while Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV would become the first (and only to this point) repeat winner of the race in 2010.  Eric Wells of Hazard, KY would score the race win the 2011 race event, while Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY was the most recent winner of the event when it was last contested in 2012.
