Kent Robinson Continues Strong Start to 2014; Brownstown Saturday

by Ben Shelton
BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (March 13) – Kent Robinson continued his fast start to the 2014 season over the weekend with another pair of strong performances in his #7R JB's Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The National Dirt Racing League invaded Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee over the weekend.  Forty drivers were registered for Friday night's opener that paid $7,500 to win.  Kent started second in his heat race via his qualifying efforts and picked up the win, sending him to the redraw for the 40 lap main event where he drew the fourth starting spot.  During the course of the feature Robinson raced within the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in fifth behind race winner Dale McDowell, Chris Madden, Ray Cook, and Billy Ogle Jr.

It was another strong performance by K-Rob in Saturday night's $12,500-to-win finale at the 1/2 mile oval.  Thirty-eight cars were registered for the event, and Kent locked into the eleventh starting spot for the 60 lap main event via a third place finish in his heat race.  In the feature, Robinson advanced to an eighth place finish.

Kent finds himself currently leading the rookie of the year battle with the NDRL and is sixth in the overall standings.  Complete results from the event as well as the latest standings are available at www.thendrl.com .

Robinson will return to the driver's season of the Jones Oil #85 Bandit Open Wheel Modified this Saturday, March 15th with a trip to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for the season opener at the historic oval.  For more information on the event please visit www.BrownstownSpeedway.com .
