Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway to re-open with 3 April events
Reprised Bluegrass Nationals will pay $10,000 to win

CALVERT CITY, Ky. –  Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway will resume operation with a pair of  regular Saturday night programs scheduled for April 12 and 19 and will present a grand opening special, the Bluegrass Nationals, on April 26.

The Bluegrass Nationals will be headlined by a 40-lap race for UMP Late Model stock cars paying $10,000 to the winner.

“We wanted to make up for the big race that we had to cancel,” track co-owner Ronnie Jones said, referring to a Bluegrass Nationals race program that was originally slated for March 27-29. “But we wanted to get a few regular programs under our belts first to make sure the track was what we wanted it to be for the big event.”

Late Model competitors will race for $1,000 to win in a 25-lap main event that will be the feature attraction of regular weekly programs, including the events scheduled for April 12 and 19.

UMP Modified, Pro (Crate) Late Models and Stock Cars will also be on each of the three programs. In the Bluegrass Nationals event, the Modified feature will be a 30-lapper with $5,000 first-place prize money. Pro Late Models will run 25 laps for $3,000 to win and Stock Cars will have a 20-lap main event paying $2,500 to the winner.

In the track’s regular weekly program, those classes will run for first-place payoffs of $700, $600 and $500, respectively.

Each week, two classes will be chosen at random to qualify in time trials to determine starting positions, while the other two classes will draw for starting positions in preliminary heat races, with the finishing order in the heats determining the feature lineup. As many as 30 cars will start each feature race, and all 30 positions will earn prize money.

For the Bluegrass Nationals, Late Model will be one of the two classes to run time trials. The fastest qualifier will receive a $500 payoff.

More information about the three races and other plans for the season will be released soon.
