Jeep Van Wormer Slowed by Mechanical Troubles in Thaw Brawl; Eldora Opener Next

PINCONNING, MI (April 2) - The Iron Motorsports team headed for the Land of Lincoln on March 28-29 to compete in the 3rd Annual 'Thaw Brawl' at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois.  The doubleheader weekend was slated to kick off on Friday night with a $2,000 to win program - sanctioned by both the UMP DIRTcar Series and American Late Model Series.  Mother Nature took home the win on Friday; however, as inclement weather did not allow for any racing at the 1/4-mile bullring.

On Saturday evening at LaSalle, a whopping $15,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Thaw Brawl' finale.  The harsh Winter produced a rough racetrack and Jeep Van Wormer started his night by notching the fourth fastest lap in his group during qualifying.  Following a heat race victory, Jeep drew the outside second row starting spot prior to the 75-lap feature event.  The Pinconning, Michigan ace was then running inside of the top five when an oil line came loose, which caused his #55 Rocket machine to smoke heavily.  Jeep was forced to retire from the attrition-filled race and was placed nineteenth in the final finishing order.  Full results from LaSalle Speedway can be viewed online at www.lasallespeedway.com.

Jeep and his #55 team had plans of traveling back to the state of Illinois on April 4-5 for the annual running of the 'Illini 100,' but the $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series extravaganza at Farmer City Raceway was postponed earlier today due to a poor weather forecast.  Instead, Jeep will take this upcoming weekend off before invading the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Saturday, April 12.  The UMP DIRTcar 'Spring Nationals' will kick off the 61st season of racing at the "Big E."  A full program for the UMP DIRTcar Late Models is on tap and a $5,000 payday will be up for grabs.  Additional information on this race can be found by clicking on www.eldoraspeedway.com.

The Iron Motorsports team thanks the following sponsors for their continued and unwavering support:  Bayline Fire Protection, Knochel Oil Company, Services on Site, Van Wormer Management, Rocket Chassis, Jay D1ckens Racing Engines, ACPT, Allstar Performance, Bell Racing, Beyea Headers, Brinn, Inc., BSB Manufacturing, Bulldog Rear Ends, Delph Communications, Dyer's Top Rods, Eibach Springs, Exide Technologies, Fine Line Window Tinting, Goodridge Hose & Fittings, Hoosier Racing Tire, Howe Racing Enterprises, J.C.
