Hixson & Perry Top Late Model Features at Boyd's Speedway

RINGGOLD, GA (4/05/14) ---  A night after a disappointing mechanical problem in Seymour, Tennessee local racer Rick Hixson of Soddy Daisy, TN returned home to the Boyd's Speedway and piloted his # A-1 Towing & Service Center, AAA, Gene's Race Parts, CVR Racecar to National Title Pawns Victory Lane Saturday night for his first win of the season in the Crate Late Model class. Jerry Coffman challenged Hixson seeking his second win of the season, but would finish second to his Soddy Daisy neighbor. In the Steel-head Late Model feature Jamie Perry (# P4) of Ringgold, Georgia picked up another victory after disaster struck early race leader Tod Hernandez. While passing a back-marker racecar contact sent Hernandez into the turn one exit gate destroying the front-end of his machine. Former Cleveland Speedway Track Champion John Ownbey finished second to Perry. Gordan Lee High School senior Jake Caldwell of Ringgold, GA piloted his A-Hobby racecar to his career first win. Dallas Brooks of Chattanooga won the B-Hobby feature and Coty Campbell (# C11) of Birchwood, TN won the Mini feature. Racing resumes next Saturday night (4/12/2014) with another full racing program.
