COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Texas Two Step this Weekendby Ben Shelton
BEEBE, Arkansas (05/13/14) – After seeing a single event washed away at the facility by rain last Friday the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil heads back to Texas this weekend, May 16th-17th, for a doubleheader at Timberline Speedway.
The CCSDS was scheduled to compete at Timberline Speedway last Friday, but Mother Nature had other ideas. While the track might've lost the battle last Friday they didn't give up on the war, and are returning this weekend bigger and better than ever with a doubleheader of $2,000-to-win events on Friday and Saturday.
"Hats off to Billy White and Chris Green at Timberline Speedway for sticking their necks out and scheduling a doubleheader on such short notice," said series CEO Chris Ellis. "Those guys are really passionate about racing so hopefully racers and race fans will pack the place this weekend for both shows. I know we are really excited about this great weekend of racing."
The no repeat winner streak for the tour in 2014 raged on last Saturday as Ray Moore won a thriller over Bub McCool at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, LA) to become the seventh different winner in seven events. Billy Moyer Jr., Tommy Weder Jr., Scott Bloomquist, Timothy Culp, Wendell Wallace, Ronny Adams, and Ray Moore have all raced to victory on the tour this season.
Defending series' champion, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas continues to hold a narrow lead atop the standings with a ten point advantage over Tommy Surrett. Clay Fisher, Brandon Smith, Shannon Scott, Rick Hearnsberger, Kody Mea, Jack Sullivan, Lynn Beach, and David Payne round out the current top ten in the series standings.
The Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year battle is led by Henryetta, Oklahoma's Shannon Scott holding, who holds a tight lead over Rick Hearnsberger, Kody Mea, and David Payne.
This weekend, May 16th-17th, drivers will go into battle in a pair of $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start events at Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas). Kyle Beard claimed the lone series event at the facility in 2013. On Friday night Factory Stocks, Super Stocks, and Limited Modifieds will also be on the card, while Saturday's program will include Factory Stocks, Novice, and Limited Modifieds. Each night grandstand admission for adults is $20 with kids (ages 6-12) $5, and kids (ages 5 & under) FREE. Pit Passes are $35. Gates open at 5pm with racing action at 7:30pm.
