Rookie Brian Schutt Takes First-Ever Lucas Cattle Company ULMA Victory

Mother Nature foiled plans on two of the three events planned last weekend for Lucas Cattle Company ULMA competitors, but for one competitor, Rookie of the Year sensation, Brian Schutt, everything went off without a hitch as he notched his first-ever ULMA Late Model victory.

Schutt, a former Factory Stock champion and rookie competitor with ULMA this season, bested a strong field of cars for his first-ever late model win last Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. t was no easy task for Schutt as he rocketed to the front of the field after starting in eighth position on the grid.

Previous winner Jake Williams and fellow Rookie of the Year candidate Ethan Young set the pace early for the 20-lap main event with J.D. Hubert and Justin Russell also in the mix. In the end, Schutt found the right line and won going away from the field. Hubert followed Schutt to the line in second, followed by Young, Williams, and Russell. Dwight Niehoff, Payton Looney, Phil Edmondson, Larry Ferris, and Chris Cox completed the top ten. Hubert, Young, and Williams claimed preliminary heat race wins.

Randolph County Raceway (RCR) in Moberly, Missouri was all set for action last Saturday until severe weather and rain moved in, forcing the cancellation of opening night at RCR this season.
