Jason Rauen Tackles Farley for First Win of 2014

by Ben Shelton
FARLEY, Iowa (June 3) - Jason Rauen parked his brand new #98 Rauen Motorsports/Black Diamond Late Model in victory lane on Friday night at Farley Speedway in an IMCA Late Model event.

Jason Rauen enjoyed an excellent outing on Friday night at Farley Speedway (Farley, Iowa).  An IMCA Weekly Racing Series program was contested and Jason dominated the event for his first victory of the 2014 season.  A field of twenty-one Super Late Models registered for battle, and a heat race win positioned Rauen on the pole for the finale with Curt Marks alongside. When the feature went green, Jason assumed the point and led flag-to-flag for the win over Luke Goedert, Kyle Neels, Jerry King, and Tyler Bruening.

"This new Black Diamond Chassis is really stout, and I'm definitely excited about the possibilities for this season," said Rauen after claiming his first victory of the 2014 season.

Full results from the event are available at www.SimmonsPromotionsInc.com .

Earlier in the week Rauen had a near miss at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) in a $3,000-to-win, Deery Brothers Summer Series event.  Twenty-four Super Late Models were on hand for the event, and a second place finish in heat race action positioned Rauen starting fourth in the main event.  In the feature Jason used lap traffic to his advantage late in the race to make a bid for the lead from early leader, Ray Guss Jr.  Rauen made the pass on Guss on the 31st circuit when Guss was slowed by a lap car.  The yellow light came on as Rauen and Guss were coming to the white flag.  The duo would swap the lead after the restart before a slight bobble by Rauen opened the door again for Guss on the final circuit.  Once out front, Guss went to the high line and sped to the checkers while Rauen settled into second.  Joel Callahan, Andy Eckrich, and Terry Neal rounded out the top five finishers.  Full results from the event are available at www.IMCA.com .

After losing an IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series event to rain on Tuesday night at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa), the team now turns its attention to the next series event on June 10th at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa).
