Rodriguez Wins Non-Stop Late Model Feature on Saturday at SSP
 
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 21) – Dover’s J.R. Rodriguez picked up his second career SSP victory by winning the 21-lap Late Model feature at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night for the postponed 21a Memorial Day Championships in memory of Mike Zeigler Jr.  The Late Models, Street Stocks and Xtreme Stocks features were 21-laps reflecting the car number of Zeigler during his racing career.  Mt. Wolf’s Gary Potts took the checkers for the second time this season in the Street Stock 21 lap feature.  Harrisonville’s Mike Wagner II won his first SSP victory of the season in the PA Sprint Series 20 lap feature.  Manchester’s Travis Horan won the Xtreme Stock Car 21 lapper.  The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by York Haven’s Brian Lefebvre.  Zakari Kitner of York Haven claimed the 12-lap Mini Van feature as Michael Gebhart of Sparks Glenco, MD won the Jr. Road Warrior feature.
 
Polesitter Larry Baer brought the field to the green of the special 21-lap Late Model feature and took the lead.  Matt Adams and J.R. Rodriguez pursued Baer early in the race.  On the fourth circuit, Rodriguez got by Adams and began to close in on Baer.  Just past midway of the event, Rodriguez found his way by Baer and went on to win the feature and establish a new 21-lap track record in a time of 12 minutes, 7.42 seconds as the race went non-stop.  Baer settled for a convincing runner-up spot over Chase Billet in third.  Billy Wampler and John Moser Jr. rounded out the top five.  Billet and Wampler were the heat race winners.  
 
Polesitter Danny Beard took the early lead of the special 21-lap Street Stock feature.  From a eighth place starting spot, Gary Pottsmoved into the runner-up spot on the fourth circuit.  On lap 9, Potts wrestled the lead from Beard to set the pace to the end.  Behind Potts, a spirited battle ensued for the runner-up spot with Beard, Chris Derr, Jasen Geesman and Scott Thunberg.  At the finish, Potts took the win over Jasen Geesaman. Danny Beard settled for a strong third place finish over Scott Thunberg.  Chris Derr rounded out the top five.  Derr and Potts were heat race victors.    
 
In the caution-filled 20-lap PA Sprint Series feature race, Zach Newlin took the lead at the start from outside the front row with Donnie Hendershot in second.  A three car battle for the lead began with Hendershot, Zac Newlin and Mike Wagner II midway through the race.  On lap 16, Wagner flew by Newlin on the top side “like he was standing still” to take the lead.  Wagner went on top thake the victory.  Hendershot also got by Newlin at the end to finish second.  Newlin settled for third after leading much of the race.  Colby Dice finished fourth, followed by Paul Snyder in fifth.  Heat race winners were Anthony Fiore, Wagner and Dice.
 
The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event had the polesitter Dan Snyder lead the first twelve circuits with heavy pressure from Patrick McClane, Travis Horan and Davey Nester.  On lap 13 Horan and Nester scooted by Snyder with Horan leading the way.  Nester pursued Horan with Snyder close by.  At the finish Horan collected his first Xtreme Stock Car feature win of the seaon.  Nester settled for second.  A late race charge found John Fyre coming home in third.  The Madison House Recovery Home Hard Charger went to Matt Wampler who finished fourth after starting 18th at the beginning of the race.  Todd Knaub recovered from a late race spin to finish fifth.  Heat race winners were Nester and Horan.    
 
Dennis Dorosz took the lead on the start of the Road Warrior 15 lapper with Curt McDade and Saryl Sipe in tow.    In lapped traffic, Sipe took the top spot briefly on lap 8 but Dorosz took the top spot back on the next circuit.  Brian Lefebvre took the lead on the very next lap and lead until the end to take the victory.  McDade battled back to finish second with Sipe in third.  Robert Wellman and Jeff Foster finished fourth and fifth respectively.  Lefebvre, Sipe and Dorosz were heat race winners.
 
Darryl Kump II led the first circuits of the 12-lap Mini Van race.  Zakari Kitner took the lead on the second lap and went on to take the win over Roy Denike.  Early leader Daryl Kump II finished in third.  Richard Wolfe finished fourth followed by Tonya Lance in fifth.
 
Michael Gebhart claimed the 12-lap Junior Road Warrior feature with Remington Thompson finishing second.  Sydney Gose bested her brother Jack to finish third.
