Billy Moyer Jr. Takes $3k Payday at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway

by Ben Shelton
BATESVILLE, Arkansas (June 23) - Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway (Calvert City, Kentucky) has always been a special place for Billy Moyer Jr. because it was the scene of his very first Super Late Model race in 2006. In 2014 the facility has become even more special as he won the $10,000 Bluegrass Nationals back in April, and on Saturday night he returned to score the $3,000 victory in his #21jr Crop Production Services/Mesilla Valley Transportation/ Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Seventeen Super Late Models entered the program, and Billy earned the sixth starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. By lap 12 Moyer Jr. had advanced to the second spot behind race leader, Dane Dacus. Lap 13 found Dacus seeing his night end as he slammed into the turn one wall, allowing Moyer Jr. to inherit the lead. Once out front Billy cruised to the $3,000 win, which marked his fifth win of 2014. He was followed across the finish line by Tanner English, Terry English, Randy Sellars, and Justin Asplin.

KLMS Finish: 1. Billy Moyer Jr., Batesville, Arkansas; 2. Tanner English, Benton, Kentucky; 3. Terry English, Benton, Kentucky; 4. Randy Sellars, Mayfield, Kentucky; 5. Justin Asplin, Birch Tree, Missouri; 6. Dewayne Kiefer, Bloomsdale, Missouri; 7. Jarryd Holshouser, Boaz, Kentucky; 8. Caleb Asbhy, Cunningham, Tennessee; 9. Chris Shelton, Paducah, Kentucky; 10. Richard Frost, Clarksville, Tennessee; 11. Larry Greer, Bowling Green, Kentucky; 12. Austin Rettig, Sikeston, Missouri; 13. Kevin Cole, Benton, Illinois; 14. Dave Dacus, Lakeland, Tennessee; 15. Rodney Melvin, Benton, Illinois; 16. Dillon White, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; 17. Casey Montague, Lebanon, Illinois

Billy also enjoyed a solid week on the UMP Summernationals trails with a pair of seventh place finishes on Tuesday and Wednesday at Farley Speedway (Farley, Iowa) and Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Illinois) to go with a second place finish to his dad, Billy Moyer, on Friday evening at Tri City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois).

"We really had a strong week in this new hot rod," said Moyer Jr.  "Every time we hit the track we learn something new, and I couldn't be any happier with Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn.  I really think we are onto something.
