The Outlaw Picks up Modified $1,000 to Win at Hilltop Speedway

MILLERSBURG, OH (June 28) - After a few short showers, the sun was shining as racing action was under way at the Hill with 106 drivers in the pits.

The Barnes Performance Unlimited Modifieds had a 17-car field for their $1,000 to win special. Setting fast time for the division with a 16.693 was Denny Benjamin. Heat race winners were Norm Aronhalt and Robin Duston with the dash win going to Jesse Wisecarver.

Setting the pace to the green, it was “The Outlaw” Jesse Wisecarver, jumping out to the lead. However, in a close second and third were Chris Basich and Kevin Morehouse. These top three drivers demonstrated their skill and determination as they put on a show battling for position lap after lap through traffic. However, not without challenge, it was “The Outlaw” Jesse Wisecarver who would go on to pick up the $1,000 to win special. Rounding out the top five was Chris Basich, Kevin Morehouse, Norm Aronhalt, and Kyle Dickinson.

The JPR Auto & Tire, Winning Edge and A & B Roofing and Construction Mini Wedges had a field of 19, with 11 on the small track and 8 on the large track. Picking up heat race wins on the small track was Zoe Stafford and Billy Dawson while Destine Bates and Karyssa Beagle got the wins on the large track.

With Zoe Stafford bringing the field around to the start of the small track feature, she jumped out to the lead where she would remain and go on to pick up another win followed by Alex Dunlap, Nick Large, Braxton Wilson, and Billy Dawson. On the large track it was Bates and Beagle front row. After a jump start from Jessop, “The Throttle Monster” Bates took over the lead as well as back-to-back wins. Second went to Chase Settles, Karyssa Beagle, Justin Jessop, and Taylor Huggins.

The Novice Mini Stock division had a field of six. Bringing the field to the green was Samantha St. John. As the green dropped, Dustin Camp took the lead followed by Blake Morris. With four laps down, Morris would pass Camp and go on to pick up the win. Dustin Camp, John Maki, Colten St. John, and Jason Parsons rounded out the top five.

The Holmes Tire Late Models rolled onto the track with a field of twenty-one. Rick Bond was the fastest qualifier with a time of 14.692. Picking up heat race wins were Charlie Duncan and Dave Hornikel. Larry Bellman picked up the win in the dash.

Bringing the field down the backstretch to the green, it was Matt Irey jumping to the front over Bellman. However, right on his bumper was Flyin’ Ryan Markham, challenging lap after lap for the lead. Making a move late in the race was Devin Moran, passing Markham for second coming off of four and then passing Irey for the lead coming to the white flag. Moran would go on to collect yet another feature win at the Hill. Second went to Ryan Markham, third to Matt Irey, fourth to Rick Bond, and fifth to Charlie Duncan.

Setting fast time out of the fourteen Barnes Performance Unlimited Mini Stocks was Jason St. John with a time of 19.970. Heat race winners were Jason St. John and Dustin Daugherty. With the field set, it was St. John taking the lead as well as the win. Rounding out the top five was Dustin Daugherty, Blaine Markey, Billy Parsons and Gary Hensel Jr.

With a field of sixteen, the Holmes Pest Control Street Stocks rolled on to the track with Matt Shroyer and Kyle Moore picking up each of the heat race wins. Working his way to the lead from the outside pole was Kyle Moore who was able to hold his position and pick up the night’s feature win over Matt Shroyer. Third went to Tim Arnold, fourth to Todd Swim and fifth to Brandon Gardner.

Rounding out the night’s events were the Bugs-R-Gone trucks with a field of thirteen.

Picking up each of the heat race wins was Travis Winterringer and Kevin Potts, setting the front row for the feature event. As the green dropped, it was Cole Lillibridge from his fourth place starting position taking the lead coming out of two. Able to maintain the top spot and go on to pick up the win was Cole Lillibridge, followed by Kevin Potts, Rolly Heyder, John Large, and Joe Heyder.
