Rodriguez Claims Fourth Late Model Feature of the Season on Saturday Night at SSP; Fiore and Kressley Win on Sunday
 
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 10) – Dover’s J.R. Rodriguez took the checkers in the 25-lap Late Model feature for his fourth feature victory of the season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night.  Jasen Geesaman of Lebanon visited victory lane after winning his sixth Street Stock 20-lapper of the season. Dan Snyder of York Haven claimed the his first career Xtreme Stock Car 20-lap feature win.  Dover’s tim Osheehan took the checkers in the Road Warrior feature for the first time this season.  Gettysburg’s Daryl Kump II won his first career Mini Van feature of the season as Michael Gebhart was the Jr. Road Warrior winner.  Richard Wolfe of Stevens took the win in the exciting 20-lap Figure 8 race.  Leesport’s Curt Neiman wired the field to win the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car feature event.  
 
On Saturday, outside front row starter Chase Billet took the lead at the start of the 25-lap Late Model feature.  J.R. Rodriguez immediately starting challenging the leader from the top side as Billet maintained the low groove.  On lap 11 of the race, Rodriguez made it by Billet to take command of the lead.  Billet did not give up and Randy Christine Jr. entered the battle.  On lap 18, Christine scooted by Billet and set his sites on the leader.  A caution on lap 21 gave Christine a shot at Rodriguez.  On the restart, Rodriguez continued to lead to the end to take his fourth win of the season.  Christine and Billet finished in the podium spots in second and third places.  Eric Irvin ran a strong race to finish fourth with Devin Hart coming across the line if fifth.  Weisser and Adams were the heat race winners.  
 
From the front row, Jim Palm Jr. took early lead of the Street Stock 20-lap feature.  The next lap, Danny Beard wrestled away the top spot.  Jasen Geesaman moved around Beard on lap 5 after starting the race in 8th place.  Palm Jr. held onto the runnerup spot until lap 18 when Chris Derr was able to get by.  Geesaman went on to take the victory over Derr.  Palm settled for third.  Jason Townsend finished fourth.  Beard finished fifth but was disqualified for failing to report to post race technical inspection, moving Scott Thunberg into the fifth spot at the end.  Palm and Beard were heat race victors.    
 
The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event had Dan Snyder take command of the top spot on the start.  With many different challengers in a caution-filled race, Snyder held them off to take the checkers and his first ever career feature win.  Johnny Palm finished in the runner-up spot.  After starting dead last in 19th, Todd Knaub was the Madison House Hard Charger with a third place finish.  Jim Jacobs and Mike Smith finished fourth and fifth places respectively.  Heat race winners were Matt Wampler and Travis Horan.      
 
Brian Lefebvre took the lead on the start of the Road Warrior 15-lapper from the pole position.  On lap 8, Tim Osheehan took the top spot when Lefebvre’s car started to develop mechanical issues, forcing him to the pits two laps later.  Osheehan went on to win the non-stop race after lap 5 over Daryl Sipe.  Ricky Weaver Jr. came from midpack to finish third, followed by Curt McDade and Travis Brown in fourth and fifth place.  Donald Fortnin, McDade and Weaver were heat race winners.
 
Darryl Kump II took the lead at the start of the 12-lap Mini Van feature.  Five vans battled for the lead during the entire race, but Kump never surrendered the lead and went on to record his first career victory.  Zakari Kitner finished second, followed by Richard Wolfe and Roy Denike in third and fourth respectively.  Donny Groff made his return to SSP and finished fifth.      
 
Michael Gebhart claimed the 12-lap Junior Road Warrior feature.      
 
Front row starter, Curt Neiman took the lead on the start and never looked back to take the win in the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Cars feature over Scott Rickrode.  Rick Pastor finished third, followed by Brian Gagliardo and Larry Felty in fourth and fifth place respectively.  Neiman also won the heat race earlier in the evening.  
 
The 20-lap Figure 8 race saw four different leaders with Richard Wolfe leading the most important lap at the end to take the victory over Dennis Dorosz.  Thomas Thompson finished third with Roy Denike and Darryl Kump II finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
 
On Sunday, the 9th Annual Eichelberger’s U-Pull-It Super Show was postponed to August 10 from its originally scheduled July 3 event.   Anthony Fiore of Manheim won his second consecutive PA Sprint Series 20-lap feature event on Sunday at the Susquehanna Speedway Park.  Orefield’s Brett Kressley won the Sportsman Modifieds 20-lapper.  Aaron Spahr of Dover won the 600cc Micro Sprint feature as York’s Lucas Montgomery collected the Legends Cars main event.  Austin Quick won the pair Sidewinder Sprint Car features.  Mt. Airy, Maryland’s Matt Wallace won the Classic Cars night capper.
 
In the 20-lap PA Sprint Series feature event, Colby Dice took the early lead from the pole position with heavy traffic directly behind him.  A battle between Mike Wagner II and Anthony Fiore ensued for the runner-up spot.  Wagner went for and captured the lead on lap 4 with Fiore scooting by Dice on lap 7 for the runner-up spot.  Just past the midway point of the race, Fiore took the top spot away from Wagner on the 12th circuit.  Fiore then set the pace and took his sprinter to the finish in the top spot with Wagner taking the runner-up spot at the end.  Steve Storrie came from a last place starting spot to finish third, running out of laps to track down the leaders.  Donnie Hendershot finished fourth with Dice completing the top five.  Colby Dice and Wayne Dadetto were the heat race winners.  
 
Paul Kline led the field of Sportsman Modifieds to the green for the 20-lapper with Jared Umbenhaur in tow.  Umbernhauer briefly led on lap 9, but Kline regained the lead on the next circuit.  One lap later, Brett Kressley took over the top spot.  Once in front, Kressley didn’t look back to take the win over Umbenhauer who was able to get by Kline again with five laps to go.  Kline ran a strong race but settled for the third place podium finish.  Kenny Gilmore finished fourth, followed by Chris Jenkins in fifth.   Kody Sites and Kressley were heat race victors.
 
The 15-lap Legends Cars feature event began with Lucas Montgomery taking the early lead from the front row.  Polesitter Scott Houdeshell challenged Montgomery throughout the non-stop event, often glued to his bumper.  Montgomery never faltered and won the race over Houdeshell by a narrow margin.  Bob Stough came from a 7th place starting spot to claim third.  Mason Chaney and Chris Transeau rounded out the top five.  Montgomery and Houdeshell won their respective heat races.
 
Aaron Spahr quickly jumped into the lead of the 600cc Micro Sprint 20-lapper from outside the front row.  Once in the lead, Spahr never looked back to take the win over Tyler Walton and Cale Reigle.  Brendan Bright finished the race in fourth.  Walton won the qualifying heat race.
 
In the first of two 8-lap Sidewinder Sprint Car feature events, Austin Quick jumped out to the early lead and took the victory over Brandon Yarlett and Mike Zielonis.  The second feature also saw Quick as the winner with Rohan Beasley in the runner-up spot followed by Yarlett for a podium finish.  
 
In the 20-lap Classic Car feature event, Matt Wallace took the lead midway through the race and went on to take the victory over Steve Clemo and Steve Cantwell Sr.  Roland Brown and Ron Grove finished fourth and fifth respectively.  Neal Reamer was the heat race winner.
