Trammell takes $2,000 Late Model victory at Tazewell Speedway
Tazewell Speedway PR TAZEWELL, TN (August 22) - Tazewell Speedway hosted a special Friday night edition of racing at the Gary Hall owned facility tucked away in the hills of Claiborne County. Tazewell Late Models were on showcase as drivers from all over the region battled for $2000 to win.
Cory Hedgecock of Loudon was quickest among seventeen cars in qualifying with a lap of 11.669 seconds. Hedgecock would share the front row of the thirty lap feature with Jason Trammell of Knoxville. With the drop of the green Hedgecock would take the lead going into turn one. Matthew Holt of Thorn Hill brought out the first caution on the first lap as he crossed up on the back strecth collecting Greg Estes of Jonesville, VA. Estes would go pitside with right side damage to his car. On the restart Trammell nudged alongside Hedgecock taking the lead as they duo came out of turn two. Hedgeock dove to the inside of turn three retaking the lead as the crowd rose to their feet. Steve Smith of Powell brought the yellow flag out on lap eighteen as he slowed coming down the front stretch. On the ensuing restart Trammell stole the lead away and on the next lap Hedgecock dropped out with a broken shock. Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, VA, who started eighth took third away from Ross White of Karns on lap twenty. Greg Estes rallied through the pack to finish fifth. Up front it was Jason Trammell collecting the $2000 in the Fast Lane Signs & Graphics, Trammell Construction, Quality Medical Center, Tornado Alley Car Wash sponsored Rayburn Race Car with power from a Vic Hill Racing Engine.
