Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Preparing for Huge Labor Day Weekend of Racing

WAYCROSS, GA (August 27) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series gets back in action this weekend with 3 big Labor Day weekend events.  The LOLMDS will compete at three different venues this weekend with over $165,000 in prize money up for grabs.  The series will start the weekend with a visit to Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH this Friday, August 29TH. 

The Rex LeJeune promoted facility will host the LOLMDS, for the second time, with a 50-Lap $10,000 to win feature event Friday night.  The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series will run as a support class on Friday as well, paying $3,000 to win their feature event.  Activities on Friday night will include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, Miller Welders Time Trials, LOLMDS Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50-lap feature event.  Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN won last year's exciting event, which was the first time visit for the LOLMDS.  For tickets and more information about this event, visit:  www.atticaracewaypark.com or call the track office at:  (419) 680-5606. 

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will then travel to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for the Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble on Saturday, August 30th.  The Donna Rayburn promoted facility is located on the Ohio River with camping sites available for this special event.  Activities on Saturday will include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, Miller Welders Time Trials, LOLMDS Heat Races and B-mains and a $10,000 to win 50-lap main event.  Modifieds will run as a support class with the LOLMDS on Saturday night.  Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR won last year's event.  For tickets and more information about the Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble, visit:  www.portsraceway.com or call (740) 354-3278 or (740) 858-6661.
 
Then, on Sunday, August 31st, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the nation's oldest dirt late model event, the 46th Annual Hillbilly 100 at I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, WV.  Famed promoter Carl Short has partnered with Kenney Newhouse to promote this one day crown-jewel event that will pay a whopping $25,000 to the winner.  The tradition and history of The "Hillbilly Hundred" will continue in the state of WV on Sunday as the LOLMDS makes its only visit to WV in 2014. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who sits atop the series championship points standings, will lead the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series into TN Thursday.  Owens, the defending LOLMDS Champion, leads the series with the most wins, with eight, in 2014.  Don O'Neal, coming off a win last Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway, currently sits in second and has cut Owens lead down to just 40 points. Scott Bloomquist sits in third, followed by Steve Francis and Eddie Carrier Jr., who round out the top five in the championship point standings.  Jason Hughes leads the chase for the 2014 Dunn-Benson Ford Rookie of the Year title over Jason Papich.
