by MSCCS/Bryan Wimberley
MERIDIAN, Miss. (January 26) - The super late models of the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series have begun the countdown to start the 2015 campaign. Now less than two months away in starting its 15th year of operation, The State Series opens the racing year at Columbus's "Baddest Bullring In The South" on March 14th -one of four total scheduled visits this season. The MSCC Series also makes stops at Columbus Speedway in May, June and the first weekend of August.

Two other Magnolia State tracks also have four calendar dates each for the series, that includes Don Cliburn's Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., and Greenville Speedway. The JMS dates are spread out nicely between the months of April, June, August and September, with back-to-back track races slated on August 29th and September 12th -a two-week interval in between.

The co-promoted, quarter-mile of Greenville Speedway, by James Clolinger and Wesley Washington, have two May events -one occurring on a Sunday during the Memorial Day Weekend. The track's third date falls on the last weekend of July, with Greenville also getting the Mississippi State Series' finale for the fourth year-in-a-row, closing with the $10,000-to-win, 9th Annual Gumbo Nationals. The early October event will continue to feature its usual two-day format with a lengthy practice session for the Thursday prior to the preliminaries.

The series will make its first appearance since September 2013 to Hattiesburg Speedway, ending a brief drought at the facility. The Friday, June 5th date at Hattiesburg will open the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series only scheduled doubleheader, which will then move approximately 90 miles northwest for the Saturday, June 6th event at Jackson Motor Speedway.

The near eight-month MSCCS racing season, from March to October, include a total of five Mississippi tracks on the circuit and winning purses totaling $46,500. We inch closer to see who will contend for this year's crown and Rookie of the Year honors in 2015 -the clock is ticking down for what promises to be a great season!
