NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Aligns With Southern Crate Series

CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Racing Founder and CEO Mike Vaughn announced that the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will align with the Shreveport, LA-based Southern Crate Series for the 2015 season. This will give the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series seven new tracks in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

The Southern Crate Series will sanction 15 races in 2015 that will be co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and will be run under the NeSmith Late Model rules. Drivers in the Southern Crate Series will not only compete for points and a point fund in that series, but they will also compete for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National points.

The 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will run for 27 weeks from March 23 through September 27. Drivers at NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks will compete against each other through a points system during this time frame.

During the 27 week season, a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their season total. The 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion will receive a $10,000 check out for the point fund that will also pay back to the top ten drivers.

“Over the past two seasons, we have expanded the geographical footprint of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series to the West by adding tracks in Highlands, TX and Salina, KS,” Vaughn said. “With the partnership with the Southern Crate Series, we are beginning to fill the gap between these two tracks.”

The Southern Crate Series will sanction five events in 2015 at Underwood Speedway in Chatham, LA, three races at 67 Raceway in Texarkana, AR, two races at Sabine Speedway in Many, LA, two races at 171 Speedway in Leesville, LA, and race apiece at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, TX, Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, LA, and Arklatex Speedway in Vivian, LA.

“This is something we’re new at, so we’re glad to have the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series as a partner in this endeavor,” Southern Crate Series Director Garren Lindsey said. “The experience of the NeSmith Racing Staff in the areas of Tech, PR and Administration is a big plus that will help us have a sound successful series.”

The 2015 season opener for the Southern Crate Series will be on April 4 at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, TX.
