Wampler Takes the Late Model Victory at SSP on Saturday Night NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (April 18, 2015) – Billy Wampler of York Haven claimed the victory in the BRC Late Models at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night. Loysville’s Jim Palm Jr. claimed his second feature win of the season in the 20-lap Street Stock feature race. Abbottstown’s Craig Wagaman won the Xtreme Stock Car 20 lapper. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by Eric Boozel from McVeytown. Bethel’s Brian Gagliardo won the PENNMAR Vintage Cars 12 lapper. Zakari Kitner of York Haven claimed the 12-lap Mini Van feature. New Oxford’s Richard Wolfe won the historical first Double Figure 8 race. Steve Centwell took the Classic Car win. Eric Irvin started outside the front row and grabbed the early lead over J.R. Rodriguez in the 25-lap BRC Late Model feature. Ervin held onto the lead over the first half of the race with heavy pressure from Rodriguez and Wampler behind him. Wampler used a lap car to shoot into the lead at the midway point and never looked back to take his first win of the season. Irvin held on for a strong second place finish with Rodriguez settling for third. Randy Christine Jr. challenged Rodriguez numerous times but could not make the pass and settled for a fourth place finish. Chase Billet came across the line in fifth. Christine Jr. and Matt Murphy were the heat race winners earlier in the evening. Jim Palm Jr. grabbed the early lead of the 20-lap Street Stock feature from the front row however the race quickly turned into a four car battle for the top spot along with Jimmy Combs, Scott Thunberg and Mike Potts. Combs took the lead on the second lap with Palm regaining the top spot on lap seven. Combs and Palm swapped the lead for a few more circuits with Palm taking final command of the top spot on lap 11. Palm went on to take the checkers over Thunberg. Potts came across the line in third for a podium finish with Combs finishing fourth. Curt McDade finished fifth. Palm Jr. and Combs were heat race victors. The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event saw polesitter Brian Rehbein lead the first two laps with Craig Wagaman taking the lead on the second lap after Rehbein spun by himself while leading. Wagaman went on to pace the field and never faltered in the marathon event. Ronnie Buck finished strong in second followed by Rehbein in third. Matthew Hays finished fourth snd Joe Hower finished fifth after starting 17th at the beginning to claim the Madison House Hard Charger Award. Heat race winners were Rehbein and Wagaman. Ricky Weaver took the lead on the start of the Road Warrior 15 lapper. Eric Boozel took the lead away from Weaver on the fourth circuit. Weaver chased Boozel but was forces to retire from the race on lap 8. Travis Brown moved into the runner-up position but could not pass Boozel who took the victory. Gary Grim finished in third as Brandon Hedstrom and Daryl Sipe finished fourth and fifth places respectively. Weaver Jr. and Brown were heat race winners. Dennis Dorosz took the early lead at the start of the 12-lap Mini Van race. Zakari Kitner took the lead away on lap 7 but Dorosz regained the top spot on the next circuit. On lap 9, Kitner moved back into the top spot until the end when he took the checkers over Dorosz. Roy Denike finished third with Daryl Kump II and Richard Wolfe rounded out the top five. In the first ever Double Figure 8 Race at the Susquehanna Speedway Park, Daryl Sipe took the lead at the start. On lap 4, Richard Wolfe scooted by Sipe for the lead. Sipe came back on the next lap to once again take the lead. Wolfe stayed calm and passed Sipe on the ninth lap however, Wolfe got bottled up behind a lapped car as Darryl Kump II passed him. At the first crossover on lap 13, Kump slammed another car and retired from the race. Wolfe once again took the lead and led the final two laps to take the victory. Brian Lefebvre finished second with Dorosz taking third. Fourth and fifth places went to Sipe and Kump. In the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Cars feature, Brian Gagliardo led from start to finish over Glenn Pobletts. Rick Pastor finished in third followed by Scott Rickrode. Larry Felty rounded out the top five. Steve Cantwell bested a field of six Classic Cars in the 20-lap feature. Charlie Summers and Neal Reamer finished second and third respectively.
