Mars Racing Grabs Top Tens in Lucas Oil Doubleheader; Red Cedar Up Next

MENOMONIE, WISC (May 7) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team ventured south to the states of Illinois and Kentucky on May 1-2 for a pair of $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilts. On Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Jimmy qualified third fastest in Group B during time trials and later placed second in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the third row in the 50-lapper, Jimmy wound up finishing right where he started... in the sixth spot behind only winner Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson, Jr., Brandon Sheppard, Don O'Neal, and Steve Francis.

At Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Saturday evening, another $10,000 top prize was on the line. Jimmy clicked off the third quickest lap in Group A during time trials, but later ran into problems in his heat race to finish sixth. After grabbing the third and final transfer spot through his consolation race, the Menomonie, Wisconsin standout started the 50-lap main event from the inside of the eleventh row. Jimmy then proceeded to blast past thirteen competitors en route to a solid eighth place performance. Complete results from both LOLMDS battles can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for Mars Racing will be a short trip down the road to the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on Friday night, May 8 for a weekly Late Model event.
