Yoder Wins UFo "Shawn McGarvey Championship" at Dog Hollow

HESSTON, PA (June 18) - Dylan Yoder, of Selinsgrove, drove from his 20th starting spot to capture the 41 lap UFO sanctioned Shawn "Sheets" McGarvey Memorial Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway. Yoder's first-ever win at the Strongstown oval netted him a $3,000 payday after holding off a closing Jared Miley. 111 cars were packed into the pits including 39 UFo Super Late Models along with a huge crowd .

The UFo Super Late Model series invaded the Dog Hollow Speedway for the first time this season. Keith Barbara led the field to the green and beat Ron Delano, Jr. into turn one for the lead. Barbara led the first nine laps before fifth starting Jared Miley surged into the lead. On the restart, after a lap 12 caution, Miley jumped the cushion and Delano assumed command of the race.
 
Delano looked like he would score his first win as he pulled away from the pack. Max Blair took second on lap 15 but had his hands full with Mike Altobelli, Jr. While these guys were challenging each other, Yoder quickly worked his way through the field taking second from Blair on lap 25. Yoder closed in on the fast Delano and began to challenge.
 
Another caution came out on lap 27. Delano was up to the challenge and took off on the restart. Dylan took a few laps and then pulled right up in Delano's draft. The pair ran a few laps door to door before Yoder was able to secure the top spot on lap 35. Meanwhile Miley, who had fallen back to tenth, had been working his way back to the lead pack. Miley took over second with five laps to go and made a few attempt to regain the lead.
 
Yoder was up for the challenge in grabbing his first-ever win at Dog Hollow Speedway. Miley finished second over Mike Altobelli, Delano, Justin Kann (from 19th), Chad Hollenback, Chad McClellan, Max Blair, Robbie Blair and Dwayne Taneyhill. Heat winners for the 39 car field were Altobelli, Clate Copeman, Delano, Barbara and Scott Rhodes. Picking up wins in the two consolations was McClellan and Devin Friese.
 
The UFo Championship moves to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, June 20 for the "Tri-Star Sizzler." The 35 lap UFo Super Late Model feature will pay $3,000 to the winner with 410 Outlaw Sprints paying $3,200 plus Econo-Lates.
