Shane Clanton Dominates Fonda for WoO Triumph; Continues Great North Tour

by Ben Shelton
ZEBULON, Georgia (June 23) – Shane Clanton dominated the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoOLMS) event on Thursday evening at Fonda Speedway in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. The victory was his eighth of the season.
Shane Clanton started the World of Outlaws Great Northern swing with a bang. On Thursday night he made the trip to Fonda Speedway (Fonda, New York), where he scored the convincing win. Competing against a field of twenty-five Super Late Models, the third starting Clanton grabbed the lead from Brandon Overton on lap 8 and never looked back on his way to the victory, which came by more than six seconds. Shane notched his first WoOLMS victory since Georgia-Florida Speedweeks, topping Chub Frank, Chase Junghans, Frank Heckenast Jr., and Tim McCreadie.

On Saturday night Shane traveled with the World of Outlaws Late Models as they made the journey to Canada for a night racing at Brighton Speedway (Brighton, Ontario). With thirty-two Late Models on hand for the Mud Slinger 50, Clanton started his night by setting a new track record in qualifying. He then captured a heat win, transferring him into the feature event. Battling for the $10,000 payday, Shane was in contention for the lead throughout the 50 lap finale. Working their way through lap traffic, Clanton and Josh Richards battled side-by-side for the lead during the closing laps of the event. At the finish line Clanton came up just short as he recorded a 2nd place finish behind Richards. Tim McCreadie, Morgan Bagley and Rick Eckert completed the top five.

Sunday's event at Cornwall Motor Speedway (Cornwall, Ontario) fell victim to rain.

“I want to thank Weldbank Energy, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, VP Racing Fuels, Clements Racing Engines, Capital Race Cars, Integra, and all of my great sponsors for their support," said Clanton. “We are having a really great season, and hopefully we can just keep performing at this high level.”

Shane leads the latest WoO standings by 94 markers. Full results from the event, and the latest series’ standings are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

Action with the WoOLMS resumes on Tuesday evening, June 23rd at Weedsport Speedway (Weedsport, New York) with an $8,000-to-win affair. Thursday through Saturday, June 25th-27th will see the focus moving to the 9th Annual Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, PA). The first two nights of the program will be highlighted by $6,000-to-win races, while Saturday night’s finale will see a $30,000 top prize on the line.

Shane Clanton would like to thank all of his sponsors including Weldbank Energy, Capital Race Cars, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, Clements Racing Engines, VP Racing Fuels, Super K Express, Hoosier Tire South, Keyser Manufacturing, GW Performance, Southern Fibernet Inc., Quarter Master, Bert Transmission, Weld Racing, Five Star Stock Car Bodies, Bulldog Rear Ends, Cizmar Racing, CV Products, Bicknell Racing Calipers, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Simpson Race Products, Integra Racing Shocks, Integra MX Springs, Beyea Custom Headers, Mason Racin Inc., Sweet Manufacturing, Peterson Fluid Systems, Driven Oil, TWM Racing Products, Turbo Start Racing Batteries, Slavic Graphics and Apparel, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.
