Riley Hickman Wins at Duck River; Prepares for the Governor’s Cup

by Ben Shelton
CLEVELAND, Tennessee (July 15) – Riley Hickman parked his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 CVR Race Car in victory lane on Saturday evening in the $1,500-to-win affair at Duck River Raceway Park.

On Friday night Riley Hickman traveled to Boyd’s Speedway to compete in a United Crate Racing Alliance (UCRA) event. Against a field of 41 cars, Hickman earned a spot into the feature event via preliminary action. Battling for a $2,500 payday, Riley improved three spots from his 5th place starting spot, retiring to a podium finish behind race winner, John Owenby with Jake Teague with Jeff Smith, and James Perry completing the top five.

Saturday night brought Riley to Duck River Raceway Park (Shelbyville, Tennessee), where he powered his #1R Super Late Model into battle. With 12 cars signed in for the $1,500-to-win feature event, Hickman charged from his 12th place starting position in his heat logging a 3rd place finish. Starting in 3rd for the A-Main, Riley went on to capture his 10th victory of the season with Josh Putnam, Jay Scott, Jay Brinkley and Daniel Miller rounding out the top five. Complete results from these events can be found at www.UCRARacing.com .

Riley now turns his attention to the Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model tour as he leads the competitors into battle in this weekend’s 12th Annual Governor’s Cup at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). The event, which will be held this Friday and Saturday, July 17th-18th at the state-of-the-art oval will post a purse that includes $10,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start.
