Miley Scores First Ever Tri-City Victory; Blair Claims Emig Memorial
FRANKLIN, PA (August 16) -Sunday night racing action at Tri-City Raceway Park saw two drivers, Jared Miley (ULMS Super Late Models) and Christian Schneider (Penn Ohio Pro-Stocks) score their first ever victories at the speedway as the “Oil Valley Shoot Out” weekend concluded. In addition, Max Blair scored the $2,000 payday as he scored the win in the RUSH Sanctioned Bill Emig Memorial Pro-Late Model main event while “Slowride” David Scott scored the win in UEMS E-Mod action.
The 25 lap Precision Transport sponsored ULMS A-Main went caution free and saw Jared Miley score his career first victory at the Venango County oval. Miley, the pilot of the Colussy Chevrolet/Brougher’s Machine Shop sponsored Rocket Chassis immediately took control of the lead with Max Blair, Boom Briggs, Robbie Blair, Mike Knight and Mike Pegher, Jr. following. As the laps clicked off M. Blair patiently waited for the right time to challenge Miley. With two laps remaining Blair was able to pull even with Miley as the duo exited the fourth turn; unfortunately Blair could not make the pass stick. At the checkered it was Miley, M. Blair, Briggs, Robbie Blair and Mike Knight in positions one through five. Mike Pegher, Jr., Scott Rhodes, Jim Rasey, Bob Dorman and Bobby Rohrer completed the top ten.
Robbie Blair and Briggs won the ULMS Prelims.
The P.M. Bus Garage sponsored RUSH sanctioned Bill Emig Memorial event found Max Blair scoring another victory as he led the event for the entire distance. Numerous cautions slowed the 25 lap main event; the first occurred on lap two when Russ Byler, John Waters and Jason Knowles tangled. Another caution on the next circuit slowed the field when Scott Gurdak and Eric Wilson tangled. On the ensuing restart Kyle Lukon got sideways in turn two causing Mike Knight, Joe Martin, and Bobby Whitling to tangle. Since Lukon did not stop he retained the second spot when the racing action resumed.
Blair continued to lead. Kyle Zimmerman took the second spot from Lukon on lap six and Alan Dellinger also got by dropping Lukon to fourth. Zimmerman’s night was cut short when he stopped in turn one on the eighth lap. Blair remained in front with Lukon, Dellinger, Matt Latta, Robby Marhefka, Dave Lyon and Andrew Wylie battling for positions two through seven. A major crash on lap ten saw Randy Hall, Eric Wilson, Jason Knowles, Ward Schell and Kyle Scott all sustain damage to their cars.
A final caution for debris on lap 12 slowed the field but when the racing action resumed Blair once again pulled out to a commanding lead. Blair cruised to the win over Saturday’s night winner Matt Latta, Lukon, Dellinger and Bryce Davis.
Veterans Dave Ferringer and Shawn Hooks led the 20 lap R&R sponsored Penn Ohio Pro-Stock main event to the green. Hooks led the first three circuits before second generation driver Christian Schneider took over the top spot. The high school student then cruised to the win over Ferringer, Chris Schneider, Curtis J. Bish (who was Saturday’s night winner) and Brian Rhed.
Christian Schneider, Rusty Moore and Chris Schneider were victorious in heat race action.
Pole sitter Evan Taylor took command when the green flag waved for the 20 lap Barr’s Insurance UEMS E-Mod finale. Mike Potosky, Jonathan Taylor and Jack Young battled for spots two through four. David Scott, who started in the seventh spot, worked his way to fourth on the 15th lap. By lap 19 Scott was in the second position and he wasted little time in taking over the top spot on the final circuit to score his second victory in as many days at the speedway. E. Taylor, Young, Potosky and Jeff Johnson completed the top five.
Brent Rhebergen and Mike Potosky captured the ULMS prelims.
Dave Lyon, Andrew Wylie, Mike Knight and Matt Latta won the RUSH heat races. Max Blair captured the K&N Dash while John Waters and Jason Knowles were the B-Main winners. Mark Tatalovic was victorious in the RUSH Non-Qualifiers event.
