Trammell, Overholt and Davis Earn Wins At Tazewell Speedway

by Brady Cupp
Jason Trammell of Knoxville muscled his way into the early lead of the Limited Late Model feature and go on to lead every lap to score his first win since May 17th and take home the $1,550 in a Friday night special at Tazewell Speedway.

Trammell turned the fastest lap among ten entries in time trials with a lap of 11.671 seconds. Knoxville's Brad Hall and last week's winner Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, VA turned in the second and third fastest times. Trammell pulled the two on the invert draw placing him on the outside of the front row alongside Hall for the thirty lap feature.

From the drop of the green it was a shootout between Hall and Trammell for the lead. Hall used the low line to battle door to door with Trammell for the first two circuits. Sticking to the bottom groove Hall would take the lead coming out of turn four on lap three. On the next lap Hall would slide up in turn three allowing Trammell to take the lead coming out of turn four. Behind them Knuckles had his hands full holding off Loudon's Cory Hedgecock and Limited Late Model points leader Josh Collins of Powell who was driving a car owned by David Clark after suffering engine woes in his primary car last Saturday night.

On lap seven Hall would spin on his own in turn two bringing out the caution. He would retire from the race with right front suspension trouble. On the ensuing restart Knuckles' car broke a right rear shock mount which sent the right rear wheel flying across the track and ending his quest for three wins in a row.

Back up front Trammell seized the opportunity and started putting distance between himself and Hedgcock. By the halfway mark Trammell had pulled away to a full straightaway length's advantage. He would lead the rest of the way for his third win of the season in the Fast lane Signs & Graphics, Trammell Construction, Hatmaker Holdings, Quality Medica Centerl, HVH Heads, Hoosier Race Tires by Pup, Shorty’s Shock Service, Charlie Brown Co. Screen Printing & Embroidery Services, Schaeffer’s Oil, and Tornado Alley Car Wash sponsored Bloomquist Race Car with power from a Vic Hill Racing Engine.
